JOB TITLE: Strategic Sourcing/Procurement Specialist Industry: Chemicals, Manufacturing Type: Full-time position Location: Houston, TX (Galleria area) Compensation: VERY competitive base salary + Full Benefits + PENSION + 401K + others Overview: We are seeking a Senior Strategic Sourcing/Procurement Specialist, who will develop, lead, and implement sourcing strategies for operational spend categories. The successful candidate will analyze third party spend to identify sourcing opportunities, evaluate market conditions, and negotiate agreements to support cost savings initiatives. Responsibilities: • Lead sourcing initiatives, including the development and execution of sourcing events; drive selection of suppliers in collaboration with cross functional teams; conduct supplier negotiations and ongoing supplier management. • Drive consolidation of spend and seek out synergies across business units by forming and leading cross functional strategic sourcing teams to develop and implement sourcing strategies. • Perform business analysis, evaluate market conditions, and negotiate agreements to support cost reduction initiatives. • Coordinate information flow to all key internal business stakeholders and senior management regarding supplier performance. • Build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders as well as strategic relationships with suppliers. • Develop negotiation strategies, gain alignment from internal stakeholders, lead cross-functional teams, and implement appropriate supplier risk analysis. • Create and defend sourcing strategies and decisions with sound analytics. • Evaluate external markets for competitive sources of supply, conducting market research and using benchmarking data to qualify potential sources. • Implement and administer supplier managed inventory programs. • Provide mentoring to team members, fostering a collaborative work environment. • Assign, delegate, and oversee the successful completion of tasks and projects. • Other duties as assigned by the manager. Education Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree or greater. • 7 plus years of work experience in strategic sourcing of Raw Material and category management supporting operations. • Manufacturing and Production experience preferred. • Extensive knowledge with strategic sourcing processes and methodologies • Proven experience in developing strategic sourcing strategies for operational categories with emphasis on the Raw Materials, MRO Categories or Transportation & Storage. • Knowledge with materials management processes and methodologies. • Ability to multitask, manage time and prioritize tasks. • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint). • SAP experience a strong plus.
