Role Overview: As the Senior Lead Developer - Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS). Your expertise will ensure the system's reliability and effectiveness in supporting disease monitoring and public health responses. What You'll Do: - You will provide ongoing maintenance and support for the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS). - You will lead the development and implementation of data engineering solutions to improve system performance. - You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable data pipelines and integration processes. - You will troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to ensure system stability and data accuracy. - You will mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance to the team. - You will participate in code reviews and enforce best practices in software development. - You will contribute to documentation and training materials for system users and stakeholders. - You will stay updated with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance system capabilities. What You Bring: - Minimum of 7 years of experience in data engineering or software development. - Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala. - Extensive experience with data pipeline tools and technologies like Apache Kafka, Spark, or Hadoop. - Proven ability to manage and support large-scale data systems. - Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. - Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
