Join our Haskellers team at Stack Builders! We’re looking for an experienced functional programming engineer to support a long-term project that is almost entirely built in Haskell. This is a staff augmentation role where you’ll contribute to the development and optimization of a mission-critical application with high scalability and data integrity requirements. We’re seeking a part-time remote contractor (20–30 hours per week) with strong Haskell expertise and the ability to collaborate on database and infrastructure enhancements. This role requires a proactive professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and takes pride in delivering robust, high-quality code. Advanced English (spoken and written). You will be directly communicating with the client. Must be able to work as an independent contractor. For candidates based in the US, an LLC, S-Corp, or C-Corp structure is required 5+ years of professional Haskell experience with outstanding programming skills. Strong experience with Yesod and database-related libraries (Persistent, Esqueleto). Solid background in writing clean, testable, and scalable code. Experience applying property-based testing. Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills with excellent verbal and written communication. Availability to work 20–30 hours per week and overlap 4 hours with EDT. Bonus: Frontend experience with TypeScript/React. Responsibilities Architect and build backend solutions in Haskell (95% of work). Implement and optimize database operations (Persistent, Esqueleto). Collaborate on infrastructure enhancements to ensure scalability and performance. Contribute to code quality practices, including property-based testing (QuickCheck, related libraries). Occasionally collaborate on frontend components with TypeScript (e.g., React, jQuery, Bootstrap, Webpack). Participate in agile rituals: stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives. Engage directly with the client during rituals, providing updates, gathering requirements, and ensuring alignment with their needs. The projected hourly range for this position is from $47.00 to $57.00/ hour, determined by the candidate's interview outcome, skills, experience, education, and alignment with market data. 100% remote work modality.
