The Department of Global Pediatric Medicine at St. Jude is seeking a Director of Global Agencies to provide strategic leadership and vision, and drive impact across its partnerships with major international organizations, including the World Health Organization, the International Atomic Energy Agency, UNICEF, and the Pan-American Health Organization. This role will oversee a portfolio of flagship initiatives—the Global Initiative on Childhood Cancer, the Global Platform for Access to Childhood Cancer Medicines, and Rays of Hope for Childhood Cancer—ensuring that St. Jude’s investments deliver measurable value, strengthen global health systems, and advance the mission of improving outcomes for children with cancer worldwide. Driving processes for team management such as goalsetting, performance, development, and engagement are also crucial for this leadership role. This role is eligible for remote work. • *Please submit a cover letter to be considered** Overview: The Department of Global Pediatric Medicine (GPM) is a growing department looking for professionals who are eager to help implement the St. Jude Global (SJG) mission by training the clinical workforce, developing and strengthening health systems and patient-centered initiatives, and advancing knowledge to sustain continuous improvement through research. A key part of St. Jude Global’s work is its engagement with global agencies such as the World Health Organization, the International Atomic Energy Agency, UNICEF, and the Pan-American Health Organization. This includes three flagship initiatives (the Global Initiative on Childhood Cancer, the Global Platform for Access to Childhood Cancer Medicines, and the Rays of Hope for Childhood Cancer) that represent major investments of both technical and financial resources on the part of St. Jude. A new leadership position is being created to oversee the portfolio that includes these initiatives, reporting to the Vice President, Regional Programs. Responsibilities: The Director, Global Agencies will be responsible for: • Providing overall programmatic leadership for St. Jude Global’s work with global agencies; • Serving as the day-to-day lead in engagement with key partners around the Global Initiative on Childhood Cancer, the Global Platform for Access to Childhood Cancer Medicines, and Rays of Hope for Childhood Cancer; • Coordinating the involvement of key internal teams to ensure successful engagement with global agencies; • Leading the process of ensuring that the engagement with global agencies is achieving impact and delivering value for St. Jude, including by regularly reassessing the modalities and levels of support and the partners chosen; • Preparing materials to ensure the continued support of the St. Jude Board for the engagement with the global agencies; • Coordinating efforts to ensure that the work with global agencies contributes to generating knowledge that advances St. Jude’s mission; • Managing the Global Agencies team. Skills and Abilities: • Builds partnerships with large, complex international organizations; • Operates effectively in both detail-oriented daily management and longer-term strategic engagement; • Employs structured and systemic problem-solving approaches to tackle complex challenges; • Works independently in a fluid, fast-paced environment; • Possesses strong interpersonal communications skills and the ability to produce both compelling slide decks and written narratives; • Has strong organizational skills and attention to detail; • Demonstrates cultural sensitivity; • Is able and willing to travel internationally; • Has the ability to adapt work schedules to accommodate meetings occurring in multiple time zones. Minimum Education: • Bachelor's degree required; • Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., MD, MPH, MPA/MPP, MBA) preferred Minimum Experience: • 10+ years experience in a business facing Program Management role, with substantial consulting leadership & program implementation experience. • Demonstrated experience managing/ overseeing/ leading multiple/large/complex program(s) keeping the impact on/ needs of customer in mind. • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, prioritizing of programs and defining approaches for implementation. • Significant experience in risk management, issue resolution, resource management, and financial tracking across multiple programs. • Significant experience in operational management, and budget planning & management through multiple diverse program teams. • Experience building systems/tools/processes to leverage program synergies and drive continuous improvement in quality and consistency of programs. • Experience managing program managers/ teams with direct reporting. • Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role. • Extensive experience working for and/or engaging with leading international organizations that address global health, particularly the World Health Organization, strongly preferred. • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in the context of complex multistakeholder partnerships strongly preferred; • Experience working and living in multiple countries and regions preferred; • Experience in sustainability planning and/or resource mobilization preferred; • Experience working on access to medicines at the global and/or national levels preferred; • Experience with research, monitoring, evaluation, and learning in a global health context preferred; • Experience providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members preferred; • Experience with strategy development, business model development, and/or organizational design preferred. Compensation In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
