Assists other Cloud Engineers, Server Admins and Site Support personnel with problems related to virtual servers or cloud infrastructure. Performs proactive and reactive analysis, diagnostics, and problem resolution. Possesses advanced technical knowledge on the configuration and deployment of cloud virtualization technology and associated systems - hypervisors, containers, orchestration, automation, Storage Area Networks (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), and Networking technologies. The Senior Cloud Virtualization Systems Engineer is responsible for the availability, security, and performance of all enterprise hybrid-cloud infrastructure, and management thereof. Responsible for performing an advanced level of technical activities required to maintain a hypervisor-based enterprise environment including solution engineering, system performance and management, security audits and remediation, operational support, advanced troubleshooting, problem resolution, root cause analysis. The Senior Hybrid-Cloud Virtualization Engineer provides mentoring and training to other engineers/administrators and leadership in all areas of virtualization technology, hardware, and software. The Senior Hybrid Cloud Engineer is competent to work at the highest technical level, under general direction, on all phases of cloud technologies and associated tools and utilities. Advanced knowledge and experience on range of Virtualization products, including but not limited to, VMware vSphere, VMware vCenter, VMware Aria Operations, VMware vSAN, VMware Replication Manager, Nutanix AOS, Nutanix AHV, Nutanix Prism and public cloud hosting technologies including AWS and Azure. Advanced knowledge and experience of virtualization hardware, including but not limited to, Cisco UCS family of products (Fabric Interconnects, Blade servers, and Chassis), Dell VxRail, VSAN Ready systems and other Hyper-converged hosting platform/hardware. Advanced knowledge and experience of enterprise-level hosting environment operations, high-availability, disaster-recovery, and back-up designs and concepts. Experience with virtualization back-up and recovery solutions such as Cohesity, Rubrik, EMC Avamar and Veeam. Advanced knowledge and experience of server-related technologies, including but not limited to, DHCP, DNS, LDAP, TCP/IP, SMTP, SNMP, SSL, and other relevant protocols. Experience with automation tools such as PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD Pipeline, GitHub etc. Ability to adhere to organizational procedures and standards and participate in the peer-reviewed Change Control process. Ability to work independently at a high technical level and serve as Project Manager when needed. Job Summary: Designs and implements infrastructure to include capacity planning, high available systems, disaster recovery plans, system maintenance/patching plans, system backup plans, system performance, system documentation, and system alerts to ensure business continuity and data security. Mentors IT staff. Job Responsibilities and Requirements: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Provides project management for a variety of project related activities requiring expertise in the primary subject area as well as other technology areas. Works at the highest technical level to design, implement and configure hardware and software infrastructure. Plans for capacity, end of life hardware and software, and overall security compliance. Participates in projects providing technical expertise for the success of the project. Develops standards, policies, and procedures for effective use and optimization of assets. Audits and reviews systems and practices to ensure compliance with procedures and standards. Mentors and trains other team members. Remains current in technical area or discipline via annual technical training and/or technical certifications. Resolves and reports on issues. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent years of experience and education EXPERIENCE Five years' experience within area of discipline PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. Frequent keyboard use/data entry. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. Rare climbing.
