Position Summary The Retail Operations Manager is a key strategic leader responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, process excellence, and high-performance execution across all Spring Step Shoes retail stores. This role oversees sales results, operational standards, process optimization, staff training, and new store expansion. The ROM develops strong store teams, ensures consistent execution of brand and operational standards, and drives efficiency through well-designed processes and training programs. The ideal candidate brings strong business acumen, operational expertise, and a hands-on leadership style. Key Responsibilities Sales Leadership & Operational Excellence Ensure flawless execution of daily store operations including inventory management, merchandising, stock integrity, order fulfillment, store maintenance, cash handling, and brand presentation. Build, refine, and implement scalable operational workflows and SOPs that improve efficiency, consistency, and productivity across all locations. Identify operational gaps and lead corrective actions to reduce shrink, improve profitability, and enhance store productivity. Drive comp sales performance using KPIs, analytics, and actionable strategies. Oversee payroll management, controllable expenses, and store budgets to support financial goals. Maintain retail order fulfillment accuracy with a 95%+ completion rate. Staff Training & Development Develop and maintain structured training programs focused on operational excellence, selling standards, brand execution, and process compliance. Ensure new hires complete required training within designated timelines. Conduct ongoing training refreshers to support continuous improvement and operational readiness. Equip Store Managers with tools, processes, and training to lead strong store operations. Partner with HR on recruitment, training, onboarding, and workforce development. Customer Experience & Brand Standards Champion a customer-first culture by ensuring consistent selling ceremony execution (UPT, ATV, conversion). Maintain visual merchandising, store environment standards, and brand presentation across all locations. Monitor customer reviews, service metrics, and feedback; develop action plans to elevate service levels and loyalty. Ensure staff are trained to deliver superior service and execute brand expectations. New Store Growth & Expansion Lead all new store openings, including staffing, training plans, merchandising execution, operational setup, and post-launch performance support. Collaborate with real estate, HR, merchandising, and cross-functional departments to support expansion strategies. Build scalable processes, playbooks, and timelines to support rapid growth. Compliance, Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Leadership Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Continuously assess operations to identify process improvements and cost savings. Strengthen communication flow between stores and corporate leadership. Implement loss prevention strategies and maintain shrink below defined company targets. Lead development and refinement of retail SOPs to support a high-performance operational framework. Qualifications 10+ years of progressive retail operations leadership; multi-store management required. Demonstrated success driving comp sales, optimizing operations, and scaling multi-location performance. Proven experience in new store openings, operational setup, and process creation. Strong ability to build, implement, and train large teams on operational processes. Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical abilities with a KPI-driven approach to decision-making. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and retail systems. Ability to travel frequently, including domestic and international trips.
