Must have a degree in Accounting. $38-$42/hr. Contract to Hire. Immediate need. Downtown Philadelphia. 5 days in office on-site. Previous experience in accounting in a healthcare-related environment. The Staff Accountant supports the organization’s financial accuracy and control environment by carrying out core accounting activities that contribute to reliable financial statements and sound fiscal management. This role also serves as a cross-trained resource within the Finance team to ensure continuity of operations when coverage is needed. Key Responsibilities Support periodic financial close cycles by preparing and recording journal activity, maintaining ledger accuracy, and assisting with reporting deadlines. Perform routine and complex reconciliations, including cash accounts and balance sheet items, aligned with established close schedules. Track and reconcile lease-related activity in accordance with applicable governmental accounting guidance. Maintain and update schedules related to investments, liabilities, and long-term obligations. Contribute to internal and external audit efforts by assembling support, addressing auditor questions, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards. Organize, retain, and safeguard accounting records in line with internal controls and professional accounting principles. Protect sensitive and proprietary information through strict adherence to confidentiality and data-handling requirements. Collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners, demonstrating reliability, professionalism, and teamwork. Carry out additional accounting assignments and special initiatives as business needs evolve. Required Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Experience & Skills Prior accounting experience (typically three to five years), with exposure to healthcare or similarly regulated environments preferred. Working knowledge of governmental accounting frameworks, including GASB, is highly desirable. Strong written and verbal communication capabilities. Demonstrated precision, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven setting.
