Job Overview The Assistant Purchasing Manager supports the Purchasing Department by coordinating and executing the procurement of outsourced materials and services required for production. This role ensures timely, cost-effective purchasing of materials such as paper, labels, packaging, glue, and other print-related components. The Assistant Purchasing Manager also processes change orders and job tickets, working closely with estimating, production, and sales to ensure accuracy and alignment with customer specifications and production timelines. Job Responsibilities: · Sources and purchases outsourced materials including paper, labels, packaging, glue, and other print-related supplies · Obtains and evaluates vendor quotes to ensure competitive pricing, quality standards, and delivery requirements are met · Builds and maintains strong relationships with vendors to support reliable service and cost control · Reviews and processes job tickets and change orders accurately and in a timely manner · Collaborates with estimating, sales, customer service, and production teams to clarify specifications and resolve discrepancies · Tracks purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery and proactively addresses supply or pricing issues · Assists with cost comparisons and analysis to support purchasing decisions · Maintains accurate purchasing records and documentation · Supports inventory monitoring and communicates material availability to appropriate departments · Identifies opportunities for process improvement and cost savings within the purchasing function · Additional duties as assigned Skills & Abilities: · Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities · Excellent verbal and written communication skills · Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities · Ability to interpret specifications, quotes, and job documentation accurately · Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven manufacturing environment · Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) · Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments · Strong sense of urgency and follow up/follow through Education & Experience · 5-10 years of purchasing, procurement, estimating, or related experience · Experience in the print, direct mail, or manufacturing industry preferred but not required · Experience with print estimating strongly preferred · Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred but not required Compensation and Benefits Expected salary range of $75,000 to $80,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k), health insurance and Paid Time Off.
