Overview: We are seeking a results-driven Director of Purchasing to support the daily execution of supply chain management functions. This role works closely with a Supply Chain Partner to deliver on cost, capacity, and trade competency objectives while ensuring cultural alignment across assigned operating divisions. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a strong ability to execute, influence cross-functional teams, and deliver measurable value through operational excellence and relationship building. Key Responsibilities: • Collaborate closely with the Supply Chain Partner to manage daily operations and drive performance. • Develop and mature supply chain processes aligned with organizational leadership principles. • Build and sustain positive, productive trade relationships. • Ensure trade partner capacity supports production needs and performance expectations. • Enforce contract compliance, including pricing addendums and quality standards. • Apply mutual gain negotiation strategies to secure durable agreements. • Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or client value. • Work cross-functionally with internal departments to resolve systemic issues. • Continuously improve supply chain disciplines and trade partner performance. • Identify and introduce new methods and materials that enhance value. • Maintain documentation for trade expectations and agreements. Accountability & Performance Metrics: • No cost variances due to purchasing errors or unclear pricing. • No delays from trade capacity or inadequate training. • No costs incurred due to product failures. • Complete alignment of quality standards with local building codes. • Full maturity of Supply Chain and Plant Platforms. • Active participation in leadership development and team congruency. Qualifications: • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred. • 3+ years of relevant work experience required. • 2+ years in the residential construction industry preferred. • Background in technical sales, business, or manufacturing management is a plus. • Proven skills in problem-solving, negotiation, and relationship management. • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel regionally (including NC and SC). Skills & Competencies: • Strong communication and organizational skills. • High attention to detail with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. • Self-starter capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment. • Collaborative team player with leadership maturity and operational focus. Physical Requirements: • Ability to move through residential construction sites and uneven terrain. • Comfortable climbing stairs and ladders. • Capable of lifting up to 25 lbs. without assistance. • Must be able to navigate confined spaces as necessary.
