Overview The Junior Maintenance Technician supports the maintenance team by performing basic repairs, routine inspections, and preventive maintenance on equipment, machinery, and facility systems. This entry-level role is ideal for someone beginning their career in maintenance and looking to develop technical skills under the guidance of senior technicians. Key Responsibilities • Assist in performing routine maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and facility systems. • Conduct inspections to identify potential issues and report them to senior staff. • Perform basic repairs such as replacing parts, lubricating equipment, and tightening components. • Support preventive maintenance tasks according to schedules and checklists. • Help maintain maintenance logs, work orders, and inventory records. • Operate hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic equipment safely. • Respond to maintenance requests and troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions. • Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards. • Assist senior technicians on complex installations or repairs. • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory guidelines. Qualifications • High school diploma or GED (technical training or certification is a plus). • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems. • Ability to use common tools and equipment for maintenance tasks. • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn. • Good communication and teamwork abilities. • Ability to lift moderate weights, stand for long periods, and work in varying environments. • Prior maintenance experience (internship or entry-level) preferred but not required. Preferred Skills (Optional) • Basic knowledge of HVAC, motors, pumps, or electrical circuits. • Experience with CMMS or maintenance management software. • Ability to read simple diagrams or equipment manuals. Work Environment • Industrial, commercial, or facility setting. • May involve exposure to noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures. • Use of PPE (gloves, safety glasses, etc.) is required.
