The Award Management Specialist serves as a key liaison between faculty, sponsors, and internal departments to review, process, and accept awards in alignment with university and federal regulations. Key Responsibilities • Evaluate incoming award terms and conditions, identify potential risks, and negotiate favorable terms for the University and Principal Investigator (PI). • Accept awards within delegated authority or coordinate University endorsement when required. • Advise and assist faculty and staff on award management procedures, compliance, and post-award requirements. • Review and process non-financial post-award actions ensuring adherence to sponsor, institutional, and federal policies. • Stay informed on sponsor policy updates and ensure internal processes remain aligned with evolving regulations. Key Requirements • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and 3-5+ years of relevant Contracts experience in Academia, Higher Education or the Like • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident due to federal export control regulations. • Minimum of 2 years in research administration, contracts, or post-award management with knowledge of sponsor compliance requirements. • Familiarity with sponsor systems such as eRA Commons, Research.gov, and Proposal Central preferred. • Certification in Research Administration (CRA) and strong customer service and communication skills. • This position is available for remote work in the following states: MD, VA, DC, NC, MA, FL, TX, OH, MO, TN, AL, GA, OK, WV, MS - This job is Fully Remote.
