As we prepare to launch groundbreaking projects, we’re seeking an experienced space industry Business Development Manager to lead market development and expansion to drive the development of next-generation for satellite-based fluid transport missions. Role Overview As a consulting Business Development Manager you will have a background specifically in the space industry (not aerospace). You will manage assigned customer contacts and acquisition processes while representing Space Ocean to potential customers and collaborators for our proprietary space fluid logistics portfolio. This position will report directly to the Director of Business Development. Key Responsibilties • Customer Contact and Relationship Building: Reaching out to assigned existing and new customer contacts within the space sector, building strong long-term relationships. This includes remote contact and local in-person interaction at various trade shows and other industry events. Collaborate effectively with internal teams, including Engineering, Program Management and Marketing to ensure alignment and successful execution of business development initiatives. • Generating Space Sales Agreements Working with customers to identify new business opportunities, nurture relationships with key stakeholders, develop and implement sales agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and letters of interest. Manage the territory business development pipeline, track progress and provide regular reports to the Director of Business Development and other members of leadership. • Frequent Team Coordination: Although working remote you will meet on a regular basis with the team to develop and execute on coordinated customer campaigns. • Proposal and Competitive Submissions: Prepare and submit responses to RFI, RFP, whitepaper, and full proposals as required. Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to inform and assist with the development of business development strategies. • Agent of Space Ocean: You will be representing the forward face of the team in dealing with not only customers but industry collaborators. • Trade shows & Conferences: Represent the team by attending local events to network, support booths, and meet with current and potential customers. What We’re Looking For - Required Qualifications • Experienced Space Flight Industry Business Development Expertise, i.e. 5+ years in space specific business development within the spaceflight industry. • Proven track record in preparing proposals, RFPs, and contracts – with recent success and wins! • Communication – must be able to clearly articulate and communicate complex and technical space related concepts • Engage with customers in a positive and proactive manner • Strong grasp of systems engineering principles as they relate to spaceflight design and operations • Bachelor's degree in physical sciences or engineering (aerospace, electrical, or mechanical) Nice-to-Have - Preferred Qualifications • Prefer some engineering expertise with experience in space systems, satellites, or the broader aerospace industry. • Experience with the use of the Salesforce CRM tool • Existing and current contacts within the space industry • Knowledge of space mission design and human spaceflight systems • Proactive! Looking for someone to be willing to initiate the conversation and be a self-starter • May require some local travel up to 10-20%. Potentially broader travel up to 20-40%. Why Join Us?
