## Key Role Overview May work independently or assist other engineers in the planning, design, and project management of natural gas distribution system projects. Projects include new infrastructure design and renewal/replacement work; responsibilities include design, cost estimating, construction drawings, and coordination with municipal and state officials. The position is located in Union, New Jersey and is a hybrid role. ## Key Responsibilities - Analyze construction proposals for municipal, county, state and private projects to identify conflicts with existing gas facilities and recommend resolutions. - Meet, negotiate, and collaborate with city and state officials, engineers, and construction contractors to resolve conflicts and communicate company policy and procedures. - Perform design of natural gas distribution projects, including new gas main installations, gas main replacements, reinforcements, and other system support projects. - Collect, research, and interpret existing facility records in GIS and project as-builts as part of the design process. - Create construction drawings using Auto. CAD or similar CAD software. - Develop timely and accurate cost estimates and complete project design packages (construction drawings, bill of materials, customer lists, as-built records, bid packages, cost estimates). - Ensure compliance with engineering principles, gas operating standards, applicable codes, mandates, and statutes. - Perform other special projects and assignments as required. ## Required Qualifications - Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Mechanical or Civil preferred) with 0 years of relevant experience. - Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. - Basic proficiency in Auto.
