Serving as a Support Specialist for the Retail Food Safety Program, your responsibilities will include: • Serving as the first line of contact for the public, consultants, and outside agencies regarding the Retail Food Safety program for telephone callers. • Assisting food establishments (restaurants, hospitals, etc.) with registering their username and business through the online portal, including making payments and other site management duties. • Researching and providing information concerning food safety questions and issues. • Performing receptionist duties by answering the telephone and greeting visitors with an amicable and helpful attitude. This includes forwarding calls/concerns to the appropriate staff, agency, or industry partner. • Performing office/administrative duties; organizing, developing, and implementing procedures for recording, routing, and filing documentation. • Assisting with ordering supplies, collecting information from inspectors, and providing follow-up to our customers. • Assisting with the collection and creating receipts for funds/fees collected. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience. • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle. Preferred Qualifications • Food safety/restaurant experience. • Ability to operate independently. • Knowledge of food safety, data collection, tracking, recordkeeping, and analysis. • Ability to navigate and toggle between multiple, interfacing computing platforms. Additional Comments • Ability to work effective as part of a team. • Must be able to prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive oral and written reports. • Strong organizational skills are required. • Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. • Must be able to input and maintain large quantities of data. • Position is based on the campus of the Columbia State Farmers Market in West Columbia. (off Hwy 321). This is not a remote position.
