Position Summary Part time The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in all assigned areas. This position performs routine cleaning duties, minor maintenance tasks, and ensures compliance with safety and sanitation standards. Key ResponsibilitiesDaily Cleaning Duties • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in hallways, offices, restrooms, and common areas. • Empty, clean, and replace liners in trash and recycling bins. • Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and counters. • Dust furniture, fixtures, and surfaces. • Restock restroom supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, soap, etc.). Periodic/Deep Cleaning • Strip, wax, and buff floors as needed. • Shampoo carpets and perform spot-cleaning. • Clean windows, glass doors, and partitions. • High-dusting to remove cobwebs and dust from vents and light fixtures. Maintenance & Safety • Report any broken equipment, leaks, hazards, or needed repairs. • Follow all safety and chemical-handling procedures. • Maintain equipment such as floor machines, vacuums, and carts in good working order. Other Duties • Assist with event setup and breakdown (tables, chairs, etc.) if required. • Secure the building after cleaning shifts, including locking doors and turning off lights. • Complete cleaning logs or checklists as assigned. Qualifications • Previous janitorial or custodial experience preferred but not required. • Ability to lift 25–50 lbs and stand for extended periods. • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies (training provided). • Ability to work independently and follow instructions. • Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented. Work Environment • Indoors and outdoors; may require evening or weekend shifts. • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, noise from equipment, and moderate physical activity.
