ABOUT THE ROLE Seeking a reliable, detail-oriented professional to assist a 96-year-old small business owner on the Upper West Side. This is not a medical or traditional home-health-aid position, but it requires the same patience, attentiveness, and compassion that great aides possess — combined with strong administrative and organizational skills. You’ll be supporting an independent, intelligent, and fully capable woman who is visually impaired and 70% hearing-impaired but very much of sound mind, engaged, and actively running her affairs. The role involves both light household support and office-style assistance — perfect for someone who takes pride in being dependable, proactive, and flexible. RESPONSIBILITIES • Assist with small business operations, including bookkeeping and basic accounting • Maintain spreadsheets, expense logs, and payment tracking • Handle emails, scheduling, and correspondence • Provide tech support (computer, iPhone, printer, etc.) • Support daily life tasks — e.g., walking the dog, sorting mail, watering plants, tidying light areas as needed • Observe and act — if something’s out of place, address it; treat the home with care and respect REQUIREMENTS • Strong computer skills: Word, Excel, email, and basic troubleshooting • Basic bookkeeping or accounting proficiency (comfortable with spreadsheets) • Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability • Warm, patient, and professional demeanor when assisting elderly clients • Discretion and reliability in a private home environment • Adaptable and proactive — willing to handle a mix of personal and administrative tasks • Prior experience in administration, bookkeeping, or home-based assistance preferred SCHEDULE • 2 days/week (flexible, preferably Tuesday–Friday) • 3–4 hours/day (typically 10 AM–2 PM or 12 PM–4 PM) ABOUT THE CLIENT The client is a vibrant, accomplished 96-year-old woman who manages her personal and professional affairs independently. She is not incapacitated — simply limited by eyesight and hearing — and values patience, tact, and respect for her autonomy. This is an intimate, human-centered role best suited for someone who sees every task, big or small, as part of helping another person live well. She offers a premium hourly rate to reflect the trust, flexibility, and reliability this position requires.
