Must have valid driver's license! Must have own vehicle to drive on and off military base!!! Must be able to pass criminal background check!! The Cook primary responsibilities are the preparation and cooking of meats, starches, vegetables, short order and of all other foods constituting a meal. Responsibilities and Duties Prepare and cook all meats (beef, pork, poultry, fish and game) and other type entrees, by roasting, broiling, baking, frying, boiling, steaming, sauting and stewing. Prepare a variety of vegetables, starches, gravies, sauces, sandwiches and other short order foods in accordance with Production Schedules, standard recipes and 1st cooks instructions. Adjust standardized recipes for the number of servings required in large quantity cooking. Slice meats by hand or meat slicer conforming to a specific size or weight specification. When required, pan fry bacon, sausage and ham or other food preparation work. Wash, clean, peel and cut fruits and vegetables for salads and general cooking. Qualifications And Skills Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand written food service material. Must have within the past five years, three years general experience in volume food preparation and service. Must have two years experience in preparation of short order and cafeteria style, multi-entre menu meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) that includes preparation of soups, salads, gravies, sauces, vegetables, meat, fish, poultry, breads, deserts, pastry and all other foods constituting a meal. Must be knowledgeable in progressive cooking techniques and knowledgeable of the characteristics of the various foods they prepare such as color, flavor, consistency, texture, and temperature and cooking time requirements. A high school graduate or GED. Physical Requirements Must be able to frequently move objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 40 pounds with assistance. • Possession of a culinary degree from an accredited institution waives this requirement.
