As an integral leader within the Anatomic Pathology (AP) division, the Laboratory Operations Manager will drive business unit success by owning financial performance and delivering on key growth targets — including Net Revenue, Cost of Service, and EBITDA. This role is pivotal in shaping and executing high-impact operational strategies, building agile staffing plans, and fostering effective leadership to ensure alignment with AP's broader mission and long-term objectives. Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversees day-to-day operations and performance across up to five multi-state practices, ensuring efficiency, service quality, and alignment with organizational goals. Leads and develops high-performing cross-functional teams, overseeing recruitment, training, conflict resolution, and performance management in collaboration with HR. Facilitates regular staff and physician meetings and ensures compliance with required trainings. Develops, implements, and maintains operational policies and procedures to drive consistency, compliance, and efficiency. Duties & Responsibilities: Partners with senior management and physician leadership to develop and execute strategic business plans aligned with long-term goals. Oversees financial performance, including budgeting, expense analysis, staffing optimization, and revenue cycle metrics such as AR, DSO, and bad debt. Implements and monitors QA and productivity standards while ensuring compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and safety requirements (CAP, CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, etc.). Leads marketing initiatives, fosters client relationships, and supports practice growth through Triad and At-Risk calls to enhance market positioning. Collaborates with corporate departments (Billing, IT, Sales, etc.) to resolve operational issues and support integrated practice success. Manages procurement processes, ensures equipment maintenance, and oversees compliance with centralized purchasing protocols. Prepares, analyzes, and submits timely operational and financial reports to support data-driven decisions. Leads change management and expansion efforts, including new test launches, environmental compliance, and facility upgrades. Education and Experience: Prior managerial experience in laboratory administration and/or healthcare administration. Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field of study. MBA or MHA preferred. Licensure and Certifications: Adherence to CAP, CLIA, HIPAA, Safety, EPA and OSHA Regulations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of CAP: College of American Pathologists, healthcare administration and policies and operating procedures. Knowledge of P&L management, fiscal management systems and techniques. Knowledge of human resource management practices including supervision and staff development. Knowledge of governmental regulations and reimbursement requirements. Knowledge of information and billing systems.
