Special Education Teachers are needed for the 2025-2026 school year to support K-12 students in resource room and self-contained classroom settings. These full-time, onsite positions are located in urban school districts with openings primarily in Waterford, MI, as well as surrounding areas including Grand Blanc, Lansing, and Detroit. Responsibilities include: • Delivering specialized instruction to a caseload of up to 22 students, primarily self-contained classrooms, with some early learning through K-12 settings • Designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ unique learning needs • Collaborating with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams to promote academic growth and social-emotional development • Maintaining compliance with Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and IDEA federal regulations • Addressing the challenges faced by urban students and providing appropriate resources and support Qualifications: • Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with specialization in Learning Disabilities (LD) or endorsements in Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitively Impaired (CI), or Early Childhood (MDE endorsement ZA) • Experience working in urban settings and knowledge of the specific challenges urban children face • Strong understanding of special education regulations, including MARSE and IDEA • Ability to manage a full-time schedule (35 hours per week) with onsite presence • Preference for candidates with endorsements in EI, CI, or LD for resource room positions Interviews are conducted remotely, and candidates should be prepared to discuss their experience working with diverse student populations and strategies to support students and families effectively.
