About the Role: Softheon is seeking a hands-on, execution-driven, AI-forward Director of Human Resources & Talent to lead our HR Operations and Talent Acquisition functions during a critical period of growth and scale. This is a hands-on, execution-focused leadership role responsible for day-to-day HR operations and talent acquisition in a lean, high-accountability environment. The Director will directly oversee and execute core HR operations and talent initiatives while leading a small, high-impact team of four. Success in this role requires strong judgment, operational rigor, and the ability to drive accountability across a fast-paced, founder-led organization. Reporting to the VP of Human Resources, the Director will be responsible for stabilizing, optimizing, and scaling HR and Talent practices that support Softheon’s Product-Led Growth (PLG) strategy, regulatory environment, and remote, multi-state workforce. This role requires flexibility, resilience, and availability beyond standard business hours to address urgent business needs when required. Please note that the requirements of this role are beyond the 9am - 6pm scope. It is expected that all managers are available to the organization when needed. You Will: HR Leadership & Workforce Execution Serve as a trusted, execution-focused advisor to leaders on performance management, employee relations, organizational design, and talent decisions. Lead, mentor, and develop HR and Talent team members using Task Relevant Maturity (TRM) principles to ensure work is aligned to skill, readiness, and accountability. Directly manage and resolve complex employee relations matters, including investigations, performance actions, and terminations. Monitor workforce health, burnout, and retention risks, proactively addressing issues that impact productivity and delivery. Reinforce company values and act as a cultural steward in a founder-led, deadline-driven environment. Core HR Operations (Hands-On Ownership) Own day-to-day HR operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and follow-through across all processes. Manage Paylocity HRIS, including payroll coordination, benefits administration, EDI feeds, integrations, and ongoing optimization. Lead compensation and benefits programs, including market benchmarking (AON), range management, pay equity analysis, and annual planning cycles. Drive performance management processes end-to-end (goal setting, reviews, calibrations, development planning). Ensure HR processes scale effectively in a lean environment without creating bureaucracy. Employee Relations, Compliance & Risk Ensure compliance with federal, state, and multi-state employment laws (wage & hour, PTO, leave, ADA, disability, etc.). Oversee immigration and visa compliance in partnership with external counsel. Maintain HR risk registers and support audit readiness (DOL, OFCCP, EEOC), implementing proactive mitigation strategies. Apply consistent standards to avoid disparate treatment and compliance risk. Talent Acquisition Oversight & Execution Provide direct oversight and hands-on support to Talent Acquisition to ensure predictable, high-quality hiring. Partner with leaders on workforce planning, succession planning, and pipeline development. Participate in interviews for key and leadership roles. Ensure recruiting practices are equitable, scalable, and aligned with business priorities. HR Technology, AI & Analytics Leverage AI and automation to streamline HR workflows, reporting, and decision-making. Build and maintain HR dashboards, predictive analytics, pay equity regressions, and risk heatmaps. Use data to identify trends, drive accountability, and inform leadership decisions. Continuously improve HR systems and tools to enhance efficiency and employee experience. Change & Organizational Effectiveness Lead HR-driven change initiatives with clear communication, strong execution, and minimal disruption. Support cultural and operational evolution as the organization scales. Drive consistency, clarity, and follow-through in a complex, high-expectation environment. Talent Management Collaborate with the Talent team to actively engage in the hiring and recruitment process, including but not limited to participating in interviews. Leverage industry networks and expertise to identify and attract top talent that aligns with the company's objectives and values. Provide guidance and mentorship to team members within your department and across diverse functions. Play an integral role in shaping and reinforcing the overall company culture, promoting values that enhance teamwork, collaboration, and employee engagement. Additional Responsibilities Must be available for on-call duty during peak periods, providing support outside of regular working hours as needed to ensure the timely resolution of critical issues. Although we work in a remote-first environment, all roles require in-person attendance at our headquarters approximately 2 times per year (in addition to other travel requirements for this specific role, if applicable). These visits are essential for team collaboration, strategic planning, and fostering deeper connections across the organization. Travel arrangements will be supported to ensure a seamless experience. Travel required up to 10% to support events, team quarterly business reviews, customer engagements, etc. You Have: Education Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (required). Master’s degree or MBA (preferred). Experience 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including Talent Acquisition. 5+ years in HR leadership roles within fast-paced, high-growth organizations (technology, healthtech, SaaS preferred). Demonstrated success operating in lean environments with high accountability. Experience working in the technology industry is highly preferred Experience working at a small or midsize company is preferred Proven experience handling employee relations, compliance, performance management, and HR operations directly. M&A and IPO readiness experience strongly preferred. Must have priori experience working remotely or in a hybrid environment Certifications Required Must receive the Softheon AI Certification within 90 days and must receive the Green Belt Six Sigma Certification within 6 months Knowledge Proficiency in presenting technical products and crafting value-based solutions Strong empathy with customers and a passion for storytelling about highly technical products Skills Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance. Advanced Excel and HR analytics proficiency. Ability to manage multiple priorities without losing execution quality. Strong judgment, decisiveness, and comfort handling difficult conversations. Clear, direct communication style with leaders and employees at all levels. Demonstrated ability to use data and AI to improve HR outcomes.
