Senior Drupal Engineer W2: $66.50/hr · Location: Remote/Virtual (Contractor site; aligned to FTC's Eastern Time core hours) Role summary Technical lead and primary Drupal subject-matter expert. Designs and implements solutions across theming, custom modules, integrations, performance, accessibility, and security; mentors developers; and ensures high-quality releases within the FTC's SDLC. Key responsibilities • Lead end-to-end Drupal delivery: architecture, backlog grooming, level-of-effort estimates, implementation, and code review. • Build/maintain Drupal 9/10+ custom modules, themes, and integrations (APIs, feeds, auth). • Perform core/contrib patching and upgrades; remediate vulnerabilities and implement secure configurations. • Enforce coding standards, automated tests, and CI/CD pipelines; drive performance and caching best practices. • Translate wireframes/design comps into responsive, accessible (508/WCAG) templates and components. • Prepare and deliver technical status updates; contribute to runbooks and knowledge base. • Collaborate with hosting and security teams on releases, incident response, and root-cause analysis. Minimum qualifications • 7+ years of Drupal development; 4+ years with Drupal 8+ (preferably 9/10). • 2+ years developing federal Scrum projects; proven experience across at least three federal websites (or equivalent scale/rigor). • Deep knowledge of Drupal Core and top contrib modules; Twig, Composer, Drush, Views, Entities, Configuration Mgmt. • Strong HTML/CSS/JS; experience with modern front-end builds (e.g., Webpack, Vite). • Experience estimating LOE and leading small dev teams. Preferred qualifications • Experience migrating/merging multi-site Drupal estates; complex content models and editorial workflows. • Performance tuning (BigPipe, CDN, caching strategies), accessibility remediation, and analytics integration. • Familiarity with security scanning (e.g., OWASP, SAST/DAST) and FedRAMP cloud environments. Tools & environment Git/GitHub or GitLab; Composer/Drush; PHPUnit/Behat; CI/CD (GitHub Actions/GitLab CI/Jenkins); Jira/Confluence. Availability & reporting Available during FTC's EST core hours; supports after-hours releases as required. Provides weekly technical status and contributes to monthly performance/security deliverables.
