Oversee and coordinate shipments, manage invoicing and claims, negotiate with carriers, and develop logistics policies and procedures.
Requires an Associate degree or related field and at least 3 years of logistics or transportation coordination experience, plus proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Summary The Logistics Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day administrative oversight of shipments and associated traffic invoicing processes throughout the systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other Duties not listed may be assigned. Daily Responsibilities - % of Job 90% • Oversee shipments from beginning of process to end. • Quote shipment costs to customers and Account Managers. • Book shipments with carriers, scheduling pickups and deliveries when necessary. • Interact professionally with carrier sales representatives and freight customers. • Assist with cargo claims; filing, providing information, and updating customer information. • Assist with invoice discrepancies; research quote history, accessorial request, etc. • Analyze all aspects of corporate logistics to determine the most cost-effective and efficient means of transportation. • Create policies and procedures to govern logistic activities. • Negotiate transportation rates or services and execute agreements with carriers. • Understand, develop, and update work instructions and standard operating procedures. Warehouse Efficiencies - % of Job 5% • Builds and maintains a work environment that is positive and is supported by open feedback and two-way communications at all levels. • Keeps warehouse organized and clean at all times. Team Building/Leadership - % of Job 5% • Responsible for maintaining a positive work environment while supporting the companys culture. • Responsible for fostering a healthy and safe work environment, focusing on the well-being of all associates. Education and/or Experience • Requires minimum of Associates degree in logistics or related field. • Requires minimum of 3 years experience or equivalent in logistics. Transportation or logistics coordinator preferred. • Must be fluent in Microsoft Office programs. Office and outside environmental conditions found in the warehouse, hot in the summer, cold in the winter. Individuals may need to walk for an extensive period of time while working and walking the facilities; to reach over shoulder heights; bend or stoop below the waist; repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movement; occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
