Full Description

Support implementation of advanced manufacturing education programs in order to attract and provide high school students with the academic and technical skills, knowledge and training to succeed in future careers as skilled manufacturing engineers and technicians. MAJOR FUNCTIONS: • Collaborate with regional manufacturers to coordinate and prepare workforce assessments • Work with high school principals, educators and guidance counselors in the development of strategic plans to provide manufacturing vocational career pathways and curricula offerings based on regional workforce needs. • Participate in developing, coordinating and implementing curriculum plans which complement local workforce needs • Oversee and resource technology integration, information, communication and training plans for students • Facilitate efforts to engage corporate and manufacturing partners with educators and students • Collect and organize data reports and surveys from participating schools • Coordinate professional development training sessions for educators • Assist in planning launch events and other engagement activities involving students, educators and manufacturer partners • Manage program budgets and coordinate acquisition and delivery of capital equipment, curricula, and other program expenditures • Serve as a resource to schools should they seek to develop articulation agreements and dual-credit opportunities • Develop strategies to build students’ and parents’ awareness of manufacturing career opportunities • Create presentations and represent the SME Educational Foundation before large groups • Other duties as assigned MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor’s degree or higher level in a field of study related to manufacturing engineering, manufacturing technology or STEM education OR • Hold a valid secondary (7-12) teaching license in an Engineering or Technology related field, or a valid CTE Educator License within manufacturing coursework • At least 5 years of occupational experience in education or advanced manufacturing involving one or more competencies, including CNC machining, welding and fabrication, robotics, CAD/CAM, mechatronics or engineering, with demonstrated experience in career development • Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software • Excellent organization, time management and written and verbal communication skills • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a team environment and interact with staff and external partners • Able to work in fast-paced, multi-task environment KEY COMPETENCES Core Competencies: • Communication and Collaboration • Relationship Management • Professionalism and Integrity • Critical Thinking and Decision-Making • Execution • Initiative, Leadership, and Development Job Competencies: • Advanced Manufacturing Acumen or Career and Technical Education Acumen • Program Planning and Delivery • Curriculum Development • Program Budget and Resource Management Education Program Compliance and Reporting • Data-Informed Program Evaluation • External Presentation and Program Facilitation WORKING CONDITIONS: • Normal office environment • Located in Southfield, MI • Regular, in-person attendance required • Travel required POSITION TITLE: Educational Programs Manager GROUP: SME Education Foundation FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt SME is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability and veteran status. The salary range for this position is $93,000 - 101,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. Offers typically fall within this range based on individual qualifications and budget availability. In addition to base salary, SME offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 403(b) with company matching, generous paid time off and holidays, professional development and training opportunities, and additional wellness and work-life balance benefits. Certain positions may also be eligible for bonus/incentive compensation, subject to role and company policies. SME is currently unable to hire employees residing in California, Colorado, Oregon, or Washington.
