Full Description

We are seeking a Cloud Operations Engineer with expertise in database infrastructure to support and optimize hybrid cloud and on-premises environments. This role ensures high availability, scalability, and security across AWS and data center systems, with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL. This role will help modernize data management practices and drive operational excellence across platforms. Tasks & Responsibilities Cloud Infrastructure & Operations (Primary Focus) Design, deploy, and manage hybrid infrastructure using IaC (CloudFormation, Terraform) across AWS and on-premises data centers. Operate EC2, Auto Scaling, Load Balancing, Kubernetes (ECS/EKS), VMware/Hyper-V. Maintain and integrate on-premises Windows and Linux server environments. Manage hybrid networking (Transit Gateway, VPN, Direct Connect, firewalls, load balancers). Implement observability (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Nagios, Zabbix), centralized logging, and incident response. Maintain SLA/SLO targets across cloud and on-premises infrastructure. Conduct capacity planning, cost optimization, and resource utilization analysis. Apply security best practices (IAM, Active Directory, encryption, compliance monitoring). Database Infrastructure Specialization (Specialized Focus) Operate and maintain AWS RDS/Aurora, EC2-based clusters, and on-premises SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL. Manage HA/DR solutions including Always On Availability Groups, clustering, replication, and read replicas. Implement database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery across hybrid platforms. Monitor database performance, optimize queries, and scale workloads. Execute database migrations and upgrades using AWS DMS and native tools. Integrate databases with AWS services, enterprise apps, and hybrid data pipelines. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field 5+ years in cloud operations, platform engineering, or DevOps with hybrid environments 3+ years hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure management Experience managing on-premises infrastructure (Windows Server, Linux, VMware/Hyper-V) Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.) Scripting and automation skills in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS) Solid understanding of database technologies (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) with HA/DR experience Knowledge of hybrid networking, VPN connectivity, and secure network architecture Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability platforms (cloud and on-premises) Knowledge of AWS and on-premises security, compliance, and governance best practices Preferred Qualifications AWS Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Professional, or Database Specialty certification Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE) or VMware certifications Experience with hybrid cloud or multi-cloud strategies Strong background in database administration (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet) Familiarity with GitOps workflows and advanced CI/CD patterns spanning hybrid environments Experience with disaster recovery planning and business continuity procedures Experience with enterprise backup solutions and hybrid data protection strategies Understanding of compliance frameworks (SOC2, PCI-DSS, GDPR, HIPAA) Flexible working hours and up to 100% Remote work possible from the US Paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick leave) and flexible scheduling Competitive compensation and benefits Exposure to international teams and cutting-edge hybrid cloud technologies Collaborative, innovative culture where your work has real impact
