M - F 4 AM - 1:3 PM $40-43/HR ( Salary ) Scope of Position: Working under the general direction of the Plant Manager, performs a wide variety of duties associated with supervising the fabrication department. Provide information and guidance in all fabrication activities and issues to managers and employees. Serves as a backup to the Plant Manager when absent. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Plan work, make assignments and assist in training new employees.  Supervise Fab team operating two Cincinnati shears, three Cincinnati brake presses, two Ermaksan press brakes, three Amada punch presses, one Ermaksan fiber optic laser, plus other miscellaneous machines.  Practice visible leadership on the floor providing technical and administrative oversight of work through observation and floor surveillance.  Clearly communicate job expectations and performance requirements.  Ensure all visual performance and scheduling boards are up to date.  Take an active role in continuous improvement initiatives, including planning and leading such projects.  Implement 5S tools and methodologies  Participate in scheduling and production planning.  Maintain inventory control of department that utilizes 5 million lbs. of metal annually.  Order material (sheet metal), dies, tools and shop supplies for the department.  Check weights on material to make sure we received the correct order.  Check BOMs from engineering and mark-up all BOMs jobs to be fabricated in the shop.  Work with engineering in making new fabricated parts or in redesigning fabricated parts.  Work with purchasing on material ordering to reduce stocking levels.  Work with vendors to find solutions to late or incorrect shipments.  Support the needs of other supervisors/leadmen to get units out the door.  Track employee time – daily work time, vacation days, and bonus days  Responsible for reducing indirect labor in the department.  Maintain accurate files for costing of jobs.  Fabricate special “in-house” projects as needed.  Conduct monthly safety talks.  Conforms to all EHS, Quality, Environmental Management System policies, objectives and obligations.  Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. Position Requirements:  10+ years of proven supervisory experience in a discrete manufacturing sheet metal shop.  Strong oral and written skills.  In–depth technical knowledge of fabricating metals  Able to read mechanical drawings  Understanding of applicable federal, state and local regulations.  Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency.  Basic Microsoft Excel Skills o Enter and Organize data in spreadsheets o Comfortable formatting cells, adjusting column widths, and sorting data o Ability to create simple tables and use basic filters o Understand how to save, open, and navigate Excel workbooks. o Proficient in programming laser, CNC punch presses, and press bakes o Capable of serving as backup CNC programmer when needed. Preferred:  Experience in custom manufacturing or HVAC systems  Proficiency in Global Shop Solutions or other ERP software.  Proficiency in using scheduling tools. (IE: Excel, MS Project, SAP, Oracle).  Intermediate Microsoft Excel Skills o Creating and using Pivot Tables o VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP formula use o Conditional formatting and use of basic charts o Able to use various financial, logical and lookup reference formulas.
