LOCATION: REMOTE POSITION OVERVIEW: About the job Director, Community & Market Development – Higher Education/Post-secondary Six Red Marbles is expanding its impact across higher education and workforce development. The Director, Community & Market Development will focus on: • Extending SRM’s thought leadership • Developing and nurturing a market-facing community • Partnering on higher ed strategy with an initial focus on skills development and workforce readiness • Building targeted partnerships to support new products • Partnering with Sales to develop and close new opportunities Reporting to the CEO, this is an individual contributor role that collaborates closely with Sales, Marketing, and Instructional Design. Key Responsibilities Thought Leadership & Market Voice • Establish SRM as a recognized thought leader in higher education. • Create and deliver content (articles, short reports, webinars, talks) that address institutional pain points and highlight SRM solutions. • Represent SRM at conferences, panels, and virtual events; secure and present speaking opportunities for yourself and SRM leaders and clients. Community Building • Develop and nurture a community of higher ed and workforce leaders. • Design and run recurring touchpoints—roundtables, advisory groups, virtual meetups, office hours—that build relationships and insight. • Maintain an active, visible presence on LinkedIn and in relevant associations, driving engagement back to SRM content and events. Strategy & Partnership • Partner with SRM leadership to shape and refine our higher ed strategy, starting with SRM’s offerings for workforce readiness. • Act as a sounding board and execution partner: Help prioritize ideas, then translate them into concrete campaigns, pilots, and offerings. • Bring structured market feedback (trends, language, buying triggers) back into solution design, packaging, and messaging. • Identify a small number of high-leverage external partners (associations, tech platforms, credentialing bodies, consultancies) that support new or evolving products. • Explore co-marketing or joint programming that extends SRM’s reach into priority segments. Demand Generation & Sales Partnership • Partner with Marketing to design and run top-of-funnel programs (webinar series, guides, playbooks, events) that attract and warm ideal-fit institutions. • Collaborate with Marketing on targeting and messaging for integrated campaigns across email, social, events, and partners. • Partner with Sales to develop new opportunities: Join key discovery calls as a subject-matter expert, shaping and delivering compelling narratives. Requirements • Demonstrated experience building community or audience among higher ed and/or workforce leaders. • Background in the post-secondary ecosystem, including time at a 4-year university with a focus on program development and/or instructional design. • Strong grasp of trends in workforce readiness and career-connected learning. • Excellent communicator and storyteller, with examples of content or talks for institutional/B2B decision-makers. • Confident and experienced facilitator of roundtables, webinars, and strategy discussions with senior leaders. • Proven ability to work with Sales and Marketing to generate demand and support closing deals. • Comfortable as an individual contributor with high ownership from idea through execution. • Professional presence with senior stakeholders (Provosts, Deans, VPs, workforce/continuing ed leaders). • Willingness to travel ~25% for conferences, events, and key client meetings.
