Job Summary The Division Director of Thoracic Imaging provides strategic and clinical leadership for all thoracic imaging services across SimonMed Imaging. This role exists to advance the quality, efficiency, and innovation of thoracic imaging, ensuring excellent patient care and clinical outcomes. The Director will oversee clinical operations, mentor radiologists, implement best practices, and align departmental goals with the broader mission of the organization. Job Duties • Provide leadership, oversight, and coordination of thoracic imaging services across all sites. • Ensure high-quality, timely, and accurate interpretation of chest imaging studies (CT, X-ray, MRI, PET, etc.). • Collaborate with referring physicians and clinical teams to optimize patient care and imaging protocols. • Lead quality improvement initiatives and standardize protocols and workflows across the division. • Oversee faculty recruitment, development, and performance management for thoracic radiologists. • Support and promote continuing education, academic engagement, and subspecialty training. • Serve as the primary liaison between the thoracic imaging division and executive leadership. • Assist in developing and implementing new imaging technologies and AI integration in chest imaging. • Monitor and analyze performance metrics including RVU productivity, report turnaround times, and quality assurance. • Participate in strategic planning and expansion of thoracic imaging services regionally and nationally. Education And Experience • MD or DO degree with completion of a radiology residency and fellowship training in thoracic or cardiothoracic imaging. • Board certification in Diagnostic Radiology (ABR or equivalent); subspecialty certification strongly preferred. • Minimum 5 years of experience in thoracic imaging, with at least 2 years in a leadership or administrative role. • Experience working in both academic and high-volume clinical settings is desirable. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities • Expertise in thoracic imaging modalities including chest CT, high-resolution CT, lung cancer screening, and cardiac imaging. • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills. • Knowledge of PACS, RIS, and voice recognition systems (experience with Philips and Inteal Rad a plus). • Ability to manage performance metrics and utilize data to drive process improvements. • Familiarity with AI-assisted imaging tools and evolving technologies in radiology. • Commitment to high standards in clinical care, teaching, and peer collaboration. • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and with referring providers. • Capable of balancing administrative duties with clinical responsibilities. • Flexible and adaptive in a rapidly changing healthcare and imaging environment.
