About the Position MISSION The Programming Intern is responsible for supporting the programming of the 2026 festival (March 26-29), and supporting the production and execution of screenings and industry events. The intern will be working closely with the Programming Team and other festival artistic and program staff to select films for the annual NFFTY festival, help establish screening themes, and develop ideas for panels, workshops and other programmatic events. POSITION OVERVIEW The Programming Intern is responsible for supporting the festival as new programs are developed and brought to fruition. The intern will be working closely with the Programming Team and other festival artistic and program staff to select films for the annual NFFTY festival, help establish screening themes and develop ideas for panels, workshops and other programmatic events. INTERNSHIP TIME COMMITMENT This position runs October 15, 2025 - April 3, 2026, but actual dates of internship are negotiable as long as duties of position are performed. 5-10 hours per week desired; schedule is flexible as is the possibility of some remote work. COMPENSATION This position, while a learning experience, also fulfills some essential duties for the production and execution of NFFTY. As such, NFFTY is offering 160 hours of work at a rate of $20.76. We are prepared to cooperate with your school for course credit. This role is categorized as a temporary employee of SIFF, as such this position is not eligible for employee benefits. The position will be paid hourly at $20.76 / hr, with a project budget of 160 hours. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP The Programming Intern reports to the core NFFTY curatorial Director level staff, and/or other festival artistic and program staff, as directed based on project. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Screen film submissions and organize submissions into themes based on content • Assist in development of screening schedule and related festival programs • Planning and logistical support for festival events and programs • Assist in solicitation of submissions through outreach efforts to films that have played other youth film festivals, and to film/media programs around the globe • Conduct research on filmmakers, film festivals, and opportunities for collaboration • Organize delegation of films to volunteer screening committee • Possible coordination of 48-Hour Film Off, Works in Progress, Screenplay Competition, or other events/competitions, with support from Festival Director and/or other festival artistic and program staff • Host screenings and Q + A sessions during NFFTY 2026, March 26 - March 29 QUALIFICATIONS • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills • Strong working knowledge of filmmaking and content creation • Highly organized and detail oriented with attention to accuracy • Ability to exercise good judgment and communicate effectively under tight deadlines BENEFITS • Washington State Sick Leave • Eleven paid holidays • Access to discounts and passes to some SIFF programming and events hosted by neighboring Arts organizations WORK ENVIRONMENT This and all SIFF positions require that employees are residing and completing work duties within the state of Washington. This position will work both remotely and onsite at specified theater/s & offices. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, and office duties are conducted in an open environment.
