Description The Human Factor Engineer supports a team providing customization and deployment of an enterprise-wide solution and ongoing operational support for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Using a SAFe Agile delivery framework, this project combines provides users with a low code / no code customizable workflow solution. Most users are non-technical, requiring solutions to be intuitive and highly flexible. The user experience is central to all work conducted on the project. The Human Factors Engineer is responsible for ensuring all user interfaces are designed and deployed in a manner maximizing the user experience. Position Responsibilities: • Provide Human Factors expertise across product range including identifying, planning, monitoring, and executing product development activities for projects to ensure superior usability • Identifies technical problems and provides innovative and creative solutions • Generates detailed, high quality technical documentation to capture and communicate designs • Seeks knowledge of the business, market, industry and competitive environment • Informs others proactively about developments or issues that affect their work, and their ability to meet commitments • Uses collaborative communication style to negotiate win-win outcomes • Debate constructively and accepts ideas from others • Generates alternative solutions to problems or processes • Collaborate in activities to develop the context of use and user needs/requirements including ethnographic research, use case/task analysis, and development of user profiles • Work team members to assist in the translation of user needs and requirements into user interface design solution concepts • Use appropriate Human Factors techniques to work with end users to determine end user behavior, preferences, and usage models and help to integrate these into design concepts. • Participate in the development of physical mock-ups and interactive prototypes of design concepts • Develop and direct formative usability studies during concept development and summative usability studies for human factors validation • Maintains USWDS standards and components to ensure a consistent user experience. • Create personas, journey maps and other user artifacts to ensure that the voice of customer is captured and at the forefront of all work. Requirements • Deep understanding of industry trends and findings and apply Human Factors knowledge in devising strategies, evaluations, and redesigns to maximize the user experience. • Ability to visualize how design changes made to products will affect the user and experience in minimizing negative impacts. • Must have problem-solving skills in order to devise ways to redesign products so that they won't harm or frustrate the user. • Strong oral and written communication skills to facilitate communicating human factor issues to the engineering team and to end users. • Ability to produce a work portfolio Education & Experience: • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical discipline • 5 years of relevant experience • 3 years of relevant experience supporting government contracts (desired) • Experience working in VA highly preferred • Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience desired • Agile / SAFe 4 experience desired Why Join Sierra7?
