As a Software Quality Engineer II, you will take a more involved role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software products. You will be responsible for leading requirement analysis, software architecture design, development, acquisition, testing, installation, configuration control, problem reporting/resolution, change control, and software maintenance of software systems. This role requires a deeper technical proficiency and the ability to work more independently on complex projects. Responsibilities: Lead the analysis and review of software requirements to ensure clarity, completeness, and testability. Develop, document, and maintain complex test cases and test plans based on software requirements and technical specifications. Execute and oversee manual and automated tests, document results, and track issues through resolution. Identify, document, and track complex defects, ensuring timely resolution and regular reporting to stakeholders. Lead software configuration control efforts, ensuring that all software changes are properly documented and integrated. Provide enhanced support throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes, ensuring quality standards are maintained. Create and maintain comprehensive test documentation, including test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test reports. Master software quality assurance tools for test management, defect tracking, and automation. Work closely with software developers, product managers, and other stakeholders, and provide mentorship to junior team members. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality assurance processes and methodologies. Qualifications You Must Have: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 2+ years of experience as software quality engineer or in a related field. Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 6 years of related experience is required. Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience. Direct experience with software development lifecycle models (waterfall, scrum etc.). Experience reviewing plan requirements and participating in compliance assessments (audits) to ensure both product and process requirements have been met. Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams including software developers, project managers, and technical leads to identify and resolve quality issues. Experience with common programming languages. Experience with software verification activities including common testing techniques, tools, and environments. Experience with common bug tracking and requirements tracking tools. Capable of assisting with tailored project plans and processes. Experience with basic networking, servers, network storage devices, and computers. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Qualifications We Prefer: Experience interfacing with subcontractors on software development projects. Familiarity with a wide variety of development environments is highly preferred. Proven credible experience in software intensive projects and programs for government or regulated industry customers is highly desired. AS9100, AS9115, ISO 9001 and Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) appraisal experience. International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Foundation Level Certification or equivalent. Previous experience in a lead role within software quality assurance, particularly within the Aerospace and Defense industry. Essential Functions: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs occasionally. Ability to work in an office or hybrid environment. Occasional travel may be required. Working on a computer for the majority of the work shift, requiring hand/finger dexterity. Estimated Starting Salary Range: $82,039.23 - $112,803.95. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
