This Legal Counsel I position provides comprehensive legal support to Human Resources and business leaders on a wide range of employment law issues across multiple states. The position delivers day-to-day advice, ensures compliance, and manages employment-related policies and documentation. Additionally, the position oversees outside counsel on employment and business litigation matters and collaborates with other members of the legal department to support business objectives while mitigating risk. As SNC's corporate team, we provide the company and its business areas with strategic direction and business support spanning executive management, finance and accounting, operations, human resources, legal, IT, information security, facilities, marketing, and communications. Responsibilities: Provide proactive, practical, and strategic legal advice to Human Resources and business leaders on a wide range of employment law matters, including hiring, discipline, terminations, wage and hour compliance, accommodations, workplace investigations, performance management and employee relations. Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions where the company operates. Draft, review, and update employment-related documents, including handbooks, offer letters, separation agreements, restrictive covenants, and workplace policies. Provide internal training on relevant employment law topics. Respond to subpoenas, government agency inquiries, and requests for information, and prepare position statements or other responses. Manage and oversee the work of outside counsel on employment and business litigation, including strategy development, budgeting, and settlement negotiations. Collaborate closely with other members of the legal department and cross-functional teams to support business objectives while mitigating legal risk. Qualifications You Must Have: Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school. 3+ years of relevant experience in a respected law firm or as in-house counsel, specifically with employment law. Admitted in good standing to practice law in at least one state. Substantial corporate, commercial, and technology transactional experience and superior contract drafting and negotiating skills. Experience and competence in corporate legal issues. Ability to identify and mitigate legal risk and develop workable business solutions. Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to motivate/work with others. Ability to organize projects/tasks and meet established deadlines. Ability to work successfully in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment. Qualifications We Prefer: Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)/Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation (DFAR) regulations. Experience with one or more of the following: trade compliance, intellectual property law, employment law, commercial/government contracting, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, mergers, acquisitions, and/or litigation. Experience with legal research, analysis, and writing. Experience with legal research databases. Self-starter and a problem solver; must have the ability to see the big picture and implement changes as required. Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military. Essential Functions: Ability to work on a computer for extended periods. Must be able to draft and review legal documents accurately. Occasional travel may be required. Ability to work in an office or hybrid environment.
