JobID: 659 Position Type: Support Staff/Instructional Assistant Date Posted: 12/10/2025 Location: Donald P. Ney Administration Building Primary Purpose: Assist the teacher in the preparation and management of classroom instruction and activities, including administering assessments. Work under the supervision of certified teachers or campus coaches and exclusively with Emergent Bilingual students. This position also works with parents and families of Emergent Bilingual students to meet Title III requirements. Qualifications: Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED 48 Credited College hours Valid Texas educational aide certificate Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to work well with children Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish Ability to read and write in English and Spanish Experience: Experience working with school age children Experience working in an educational setting Major Responsibilities and Duties: Instructional Support • Assist the teacher in the instructional delivery and monitoring of Emergent Bilinguals in the classroom • Assist the teacher in the preparation of instructional materials. • Assist with the administration and scoring of testing instruments or work assignments. • Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom. • Help with the inventory, care, and maintenance of classroom equipment. • Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports. • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers. • Provide support for emergent bilingual parents Student Management • Provide small group instruction and tutorials for Emergent Bilinguals • Conduct instructional assignments assigned by the teacher • Help supervise students throughout the school day • Keep the teacher informed of special needs or differentiation needed for individual students. Other • Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance in working with Emergent Bilinguals • Participate in parent, family, and community engagement events as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: The employee is expected to maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing, moving small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment are required while performing the duties of this job. • Salary is commensurate with experience • Minimum Salary $27,149 • Please note that this role requires in-person attendance and is not eligible for remote work.
