Senior Systems Engineer – VMware ,Nutanix , Cloud-(Azure Preferred) Location: 100% Remote – EST/CST Time Zones Travel: Occasional travel to Boston, MA – approximately once every 2 months Start Date: ASAP Openings: 2 Experience: 10+ years Industry: Manufacturing experience is a major plus Job Summary We are seeking a Senior-level Systems Engineer with 10+ years of experience designing, implementing, administering, and supporting enterprise infrastructure environments. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise with VMware, Nutanix, Linux, and Cloud technologies, with Azure experience strongly preferred. This individual will be responsible for maintaining and modernizing highly available infrastructure environments, supporting virtualization and cloud initiatives, troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues, and partnering with internal technology teams to ensure reliable and scalable enterprise systems. Key Responsibilities • Design, implement, administer, and support large-scale enterprise infrastructure environments. • Provide advanced administration and troubleshooting for VMware virtualization environments. • Manage and support Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) environments. • Support enterprise Linux servers, including installation, configuration, patching, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. • Design and support cloud infrastructure, with Microsoft Azure experience strongly preferred. • Participate in cloud migration, infrastructure modernization, and hybrid-cloud initiatives. • Monitor system performance, availability, capacity, and overall infrastructure health. • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure, virtualization, operating system, and connectivity issues. • Develop and maintain infrastructure standards, configurations, documentation, and operational procedures. • Work with networking, security, application, database, and other infrastructure teams to resolve enterprise-level issues. • Support disaster recovery, backup, business continuity, and high-availability initiatives. • Perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent solutions for recurring infrastructure issues. • Participate in infrastructure upgrades, technology refreshes, migrations, and major enterprise projects. • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior/mid-level infrastructure engineers. • Participate in an on-call or after-hours support rotation as required. Required Qualifications • 10+ years of experience in Systems Engineering / Infrastructure Engineering. • Strong hands-on experience with VMware technologies and enterprise virtualization. • Strong experience with Nutanix / HCI environments. • Strong Linux systems administration experience. • Experience supporting enterprise-scale infrastructure environments. • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills. • Experience with infrastructure monitoring, performance tuning, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management. • Ability to work independently on complex infrastructure issues and initiatives. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and services. • Experience with hybrid on-premises/cloud environments. • Experience with Azure migration and modernization initiatives. • Experience with automation and scripting such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python. • Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions. • Experience with infrastructure-as-code or DevOps practices. • Manufacturing industry experience is a major plus, particularly experience supporting plant, factory, production, or industrial technology environments. • Experience working with geographically distributed enterprise environments
