The office of U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) seeks a Deputy Communications Director based in the Washington, D.C. office, whose role will focus on state and national media for the Senator’s personal office. Responsibilities include developing and implementing proactive communications plans and pitching and responding to inquiries, as well as writing speeches, talking points, releases, and other content as needed. The ideal applicant is a strong writer who can thrive working within a team in a fast-paced environment. They must be able to demonstrate past success leading communications efforts that convey why legislation matters to local communities. Travel will be required. Previous communications or other relevant experience required. Pacific Northwest experience or connections preferred. Our office is constantly working to expand its digital footprint to allow the Senator to reach her constituents directly—a strong background in digital communications is a major plus. The annual salary for this position is $100,000.
