About SEG: The Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) is a global not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing the science of applied geophysics. We connect and inspire a diverse community of geoscientists worldwide through education, research, and industry engagement. Position Summary: The Director of Operations for the SEG Advanced Modeling Corporation (SEAM) is a senior leadership role responsible for the operational, financial, and strategic management of SEAM research programs. This position ensures efficient day-to-day operations, supports governance and compliance, and helps drive business development and visibility for SEAM within the broader SEG community and industry. Key Responsibilities: Operational Leadership • Oversee overall operations of SEAM programs, ensuring effective coordination and execution of activities. • Work with SEAM volunteers, committees, and other SEG departments to maintain high visibility for SEAM research programs at events such as IMAGE. Financial & Budget Management • Assist the SEAM Board in developing the annual budget and monitor operational results against the budget. • Work with SEG’s finance team to produce regular financial statements, cash flow forecasts, and operational forecasts. • Ensure sound financial practices and transparency in reporting. Compliance & Contracting • Ensure compliance with government and consortia member contracts and reporting requirements. • Prepare and negotiate consortia membership agreements and draft grant funding requests to organizations such as RPSEA. Business Development & Outreach • Liaise with SEAM’s business development contractors to promote and recruit members for new projects. • Represent SEAM activities to the SEG membership and external stakeholders, enhancing participation and awareness of SEAM’s research initiatives. Leadership & Collaboration • Provide oversight and direction to staff and serve as a key liaison between the SEAM Board, committees, and SEG leadership. • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure SEAM’s operational strategies align with broader organizational goals.
