POSITION DESCRIPTION Title: Manager, Marketing and Events Reports to: Senior Director, Marketing Supervises: N/A Status: Full-Time/Exempt Location: Silver Spring, MD (hybrid position with both in-office and mobile work) Updated: January 2026 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: General Statement of Duties The Manager, Marketing and Events, is a creative and outgoing individual responsible for developing and executing innovative marketing campaigns to increase member/volunteer involvement in SIA and secure their participation in SIA initiatives. This manager will also be responsible for producing exceptional networking events, along with our annual celebratory gala that raises funds for workforce outreach. He/she serves as a logistical liaison between our team and SIA’s trade show partner for ISC West and ISC East. The Manager is viewed as a marketing ambassador with three core responsibilities: • Enthusiastically communicate the value of SIA directly to member companies through marketing campaigns and through in-person interactions with members at our events. • Lead the development and successful execution of numerous member engagement events (e.g., regional networking meetings, receptions), and, • Support all SIA marketing programs, particularly by serving as the driver of our email marketing, event marketing, and marketing automation efforts. The Manager displays a sincere interest in ongoing learning about an influential industry that is driven by security technology innovation and dedicated to protecting people and property worldwide. The Manager has a passion for generating creative marketing ideas. This role is at ease interacting within a diverse industry, possess strong project management, writing and presentation skills, and will regularly communicate an understanding of the applicability of SIA’s products and services to different industry audiences. The Manager exercises superb collaborative skills when working with cross-department teams (e.g., membership; operations; learning and development; standards) and outside partners. The Manager shares a commitment to SIA’s core values of pride and creativity, teamwork, open-mindedness, knowledge, and accountability. Key Responsibilities Marketing Engagement and Audience Growth • Be a key team player in growing SIA’s overall audience. • Under the direction of the Senior Director, Marketing, and in close collaboration with colleagues, develop integrated marketing plans that lead to increased member/volunteer participation in SIA programs. • Serve as the staff lead for email marketing and marketing automation, leading in both creative implementation and project management for marketing automation. • Use your creativity and collaborative skills to develop messaging and creative to effectively market and drive engagement for SIA programs, content, and events. • Create, develop, and manage marketing automation campaigns in support of various SIA programs, from member onboarding to event marketing and member engagement, and identify new opportunities to leverage our marketing technology stack. • Grow our National Capital Regional Security Forum community of DMV-area security professionals through events and direct member experiences • Work closely with our membership team to produce highly impactful campaigns to onboard new member companies and new contacts at existing member companies. • Be part of our staff-wide commitment to consistently connect with our members and identify engaging opportunities for their participation and professional growth. Events • Serve as a key liaison to its events partner in support of improving the SIA member/exhibitor experience at ISC Expos and SIA-sponsored events held in conjunction with the events. • Serve as the project manager and staff lead for SIA Honors Night, the SIA Market Leaders Reception, SIAThere! regional networking event series, National Capital Region Security Forum (NCRSF) DMV-area regional networking meetings, responsible for the P&L and successful execution of the events in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Senior Director, Marketing (and in coordination with the SIA government relations department for our identity/biometrics-themed events). Additional responsibilities include: • Experience planning and logistics • Identifying and working with sponsors for our regional networking events (NCRSF and SIAThere! events) • Manage NCRSF committee to provide input and direction for NCRSF event series • Provide guidance and training to any SIA staff who support these events on site • Leading the content direction on NCRSF events • Leading the direction and supporting content initiatives on our identity/biometric events • Serve as primary liaison on SIA staff to event, room and facility logistics at ISC security events • Serve as the primary on-site logistical contact for the Securing New Ground conference • Serve as the primary event experience and logistics liaison for other SIA in-person events as needed, including: • Logistical support and project management related to contracts, F&B and AV orders, and working with venues • Solicitation of venue proposals and review of proposals with event stakeholders • Advising on and providing guidance related to the event experience and look and feel • Leading pre-event logistical meetings with relevant stakeholders • Leading post-event debrief sessions to implement a process of continual improvement and open dialogue about SIA events • Actively participate in the marketing as part of the staff team in support of other key event programs, including conferences, networking events, awards programs, training programs and other SIA meetings and live events and on-demand programs. • Lead the use of metrics to measure attendee engagement and satisfaction rates with these events; present findings as requested. • Serve as the marketing department’s staff lead for coordinating the cross-departmental scheduling of events, and aid in implementing the marketing plan for each of these events. • Serve as the marketing department staff lead for virtual events, including registration and logistics support for virtual events. Marketing and Audience Growth General • Support all SIA marketing projects as needed, including but not limited to, media communications, digital marketing, social media, and member engagement strategies. • Enthusiastically embrace and leverage metrics and analytics to evaluate member engagement marketing ROI and make needed improvements. • Grow professional and technical knowledge by attending industry educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, monitoring industry trends, establishing professional networks and engaging with SIA members. • Work with and effectively manage relevant vendors, suppliers and consultants and directly manage vendor relationships and expenditures to ensure value is created for SIA’s membership. • Take a revenue-growth mindset approach to events and other programs. • Leverage our digital platforms in support of marketing goals and initiatives. • Embrace the use of our association management solution (AMS) database to grow our audience reach and to track and drive member engagement. • Estimate annual travel of 10-15%, primarily in support of SIA events. • Some travel required. • Other duties as may be assigned. Education and Experience • B.A. in marketing, communications, or a related field. • A minimum of two to five years of applicable experience in marketing or communications related to customer engagement, content generation, and event management. • Experience in email marketing and communications. • Experience with planning and hosting events is a strong plus. • Experience with a membership-based organization is a strong plus. Requisite Skills and Attributes • General familiarity with digital content creation, website, and social media marketing. • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills. • Strong creative instincts matched with strong organizational skills • Exemplary customer service skills and an enthusiastic, can-do attitude. • Ability to oversee many projects simultaneously and help to ensure completion by stated deadlines. • Able to always represent self and SIA in a professional manner and exercise high levels of customer service quality in all interactions. • Solid presentation skills. • Strong member service orientation. • A willingness to have fun and share ideas that strengthen the organizational culture. • Commitment to the success of the association. Proficiency in computer applications (word processing, Excel, database).
