About the Role We are seeking a strategic Senior Director, Market Development, responsible for building and leading a team of Market Development Managers (MDMs) while maintaining direct engagement with top-tier Key Opinion Leaders and key regional markets. This player-coach position serves as the critical bridge between field intelligence and enterprise brand strategy, capturing insights to inform and evolve the commercial approach of the company's oncology portfolio. The Senior Director collaborates across functions including Sales, Market Access and Reimbursement (MAR), Medical Affairs, and Marketing to synthesize insights, identify growth opportunities, and prospectively anticipate therapeutic trends to prepare for new product launches and indications. Employment Type Full-time Reports To Senior Vice President, Commercial Strategy and Operations Key Responsibilities Build, lead, and mentor team of Market Development Managers across regions, establishing national market development strategy and frameworks for insights capture Manage relationships with top-tier national/regional KOLs who influence treatment paradigms; conduct high-level discussions with leading oncologists, practice executives, and IDN leadership Maintain active field presence in priority markets requiring senior-level engagement while modeling best practices for team Set team KPIs, conduct coaching and performance reviews; drive capability building through recruitment, training, and succession planning Capture critical insights from influential stakeholders that inform enterprise strategy and competitive positioning Synthesize field intelligence from MDMs, KAMs, MAR, and MSLs into comprehensive insights driving brand strategy evolution Serve as key commercial strategist on cross-functional leadership teams; present strategic recommendations to executive leadership Collaborate with Head of Sales and Director of Market Access and Reimbursement to align market development with field execution; partner with MAR on payer challenges and access solutions Test and validate strategic concepts with KOLs; establish feedback loops measuring brand strategy effectiveness Prospectively identify therapeutic trends to prepare for launches and indication expansions; monitor competitive pipeline, trials, and regulatory activities Lead launch readiness including market assessment, KOL mapping, segmentation, and messaging; partner with Clinical Development on site selection Identify and prioritize high-opportunity markets for focused investment; develop regional plans driving prescription growth and market share gains Ensure all activities comply with FDA regulations, PhRMA Code, OIG guidelines, and healthcare laws Contribute to long-range strategic planning and business development opportunities, support commercial forecasting with market insights Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MS, PharmD) preferred 10-12 years progressive pharmaceutical/biotech commercial experience with 5-7 years in strategic market development, brand management, or insights leadership 3-5 years people management experience leading high-performing field or commercial teams Proven oncology/hematology therapeutic expertise with deep understanding of treatment landscape and KOL engagement Track record of translating market insights into actionable brand strategy and supporting product launches/indication expansions Exceptional strategic thinking with ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights; strong analytical skills including market modeling and forecasting Proven ability to build, coach, and develop teams; experience establishing vision and operational frameworks for market development organizations Deep cross-functional collaboration experience partnering with Sales, Marketing, Market Access, and Medical Affairs to drive alignment Comprehensive knowledge of oncology/hematology disease states, treatment paradigms, clinical trial design, and evidence-based medicine Executive-level relationship building with top-tier KOLs and healthcare executives; advisory board design and facilitation experience Strong business acumen with entrepreneurial mindset; data-driven decision maker who balances analytics with strategic intuition Thorough understanding of pharmaceutical regulations (FDA, PhRMA Code, OIG guidelines, Sunshine Act); commitment to compliant practices Ability to travel 50-60% including overnight stays; valid driver's license; home-based office with virtual leadership capabilities High integrity, customer-centric mindset, resilience, and passion for improving patient outcomes Salary $250,000 - $325,000
