BENEFITS: Health, dental, vision and more 3 weeks paid time off + 10 paid holidays 403b with employer match Check out our full list of benefits and perks HERE Position Summary: The Float Operations Manager position is responsible for collaborating with operations leadership to support needs across operations teams and fill gaps in coverage. This role provides coverage as needed for Coordinator, Advisor, and Associate level roles and can make emergency decisions on behalf of Animal Care department leadership in their absence. The Float Operations Manager also oversees procurement and inventory for Animal Care programs and works closely with the Business Operations Manager, along with co-chairing Seattle Humane’s Safety Committee. This role acts as a thought partner for Animal Care department leadership when implementing efficiencies or programmatic change. The Float Operations Manager provides leadership and supports the mission, goals, and philosophy of Seattle Humane. KEY OR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Operational Needs Able to function as and complete Coordinator, Advisor, and Associate level duties in the following departments: Shelter Care Adoptions Foster Admissions Pet Resource Center Responsible for managing centralized procurement and inventory for all Animal Care teams and Community Programs. Fulfill other operational functions as needed such as transport driver, picking up emergency purchases, etc Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) as assigned Act as a decision maker in emergency situations when Animal Care department leadership is unavailable. Work alongside various department leadership for process improvement. Assist at off-site clinics/events, as well as other Seattle Humane activations requiring operations leadership. Co-Chair Seattle Humane’s Safety Committee Work alongside Operations leadership to implement safety procedures and advancements Other duties as assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This role does not have any direct reports May provide indirect or situational supervision to teams across Animal Care, in the absence of department leadership COMPLEXITY: Recurring duties on a daily basis with diverse work during specific times of the year. High degree of formal policies and procedures exist to guide the work. Must be able to coordinate several tasks within a day and utilize a high degree of independent judgment to accomplish work assignments or requests. Daily verbal and written communication with co-workers through meetings, direct contact, telephone, memos or mail KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION OR TRAINING: A minimum of 3-year work experience within operation at an animal welfare organization required, prior experience working at Seattle Humane preferred. Acts as a systems thinker, capable of identifying operational gaps and proposing sustainable improvements. Exercises a high degree of independent judgment and discretion in prioritizing tasks, managing timelines, and implementing solutions. Works with minimal oversight while maintaining alignment with leadership expectations and strategic priorities. Handles confidential information in alignment with organizational policy. Navigates SharePoint, Office Suite, and additional enterprise tools to manage documentation, workflows, and communications. Balances short-term logistics with long-term planning, consistently adjusting to shifting organizational priorities. Demonstrates high attention to detail, flexibility, and strong listening skills. This role requires familiarity with: Netsuite PetPoint LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: None PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: This job involves significant time sitting (or standing) at a desk and using a computer. Must be able to analyze problems and determine the best solutions and communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Must possess good attention to detail, be able to concentrate and produce accurate work despite frequent interruptions. Needs to be sensitive to other opinions, perspectives, or cultures. Position facilities collaboration. Flexibility to adapt to differing support needs, working styles, and demands. WORKING CONDITIONS: General office environment: May have limited (can change) animal handling which presents the potential of animal bites, exposure to zoonotic diseases (diseases that can be transmitted from vertebrate animals to people), animal dander and noise. Equipment Use: Continuous use of computer, printer, copy machine, and multi-line telephone. (Add what makes sense) Work Hours: Full-time, schedule may vary. Must be available evening and/or weekend hours, as well as for emergency calls. LOCATION: The position works in onsite at the Seattle Humane Campus in the Bellevue, WA.
