Position Summary The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the onsite, day-to-day supervision of the custodial maintenance and the Set-Up functions of the facility and is instrumental in delivering frontline supervision to meet and exceed customer expectations. Supervises all Custodial Crew Chiefs and Set-up Crew Chiefs performing event maintenance and set-up related functions. May also have shift supervisory responsibility for custodial or setup functions taking place during any day, swing, or graveyard shifts. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, works closely with Event Services, Food Services, and other onsite service partners to coordinate their set-up needs and custodial maintenance of the facility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Closely monitor the floor operations of the custodial and set-up staff • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the standards of custodial maintenance and set-up and event maintenance performance • Prior to, during and following events, work in concert with all Event Services, Sales, and Food Service and onsite contractors related to custodial maintenance and event set-up needs. • Become knowledgeable and adhere to the Labor Agreement between the SCC and the SCC Labor Council, including all related documents. Consult with appropriate internal staff concerning the interpretation and implementation of the agreement • Assist the Operations Manager in developing all work schedules for custodial and set-up staff to meet event and operational needs during both event and nonevent periods. • Review, prioritize and execute custodial and set-up Work Orders generated by Ungerboeck, the SCC event management software system, and in coordination with other Operations Supervisors and Crew Chiefs, or as directed by Operations Managers. • Assign tasks and train employees to ensure proper and effective methods are being used and inspect completed work for conformance to department standards and client expectations. • In accordance with SCC procedures/policies and the Labor Agreement, resolve employees' concerns and/or confer with the Operations Manager concerning situations needing further attention • Assist the Operations Manager in following the established payroll procedure, reviewing, verifying and approving employees' hours worked • Prepare and maintain required reports, records and logs related to operations, such as work schedules, employee attendance, employee work performance, accident/incident reports, project reports, grievance responses, etc. • Coordinate and monitor storage of equipment in designated location. Work with the Facilities Department, Food Service, and onsite contractors and vendors to ensure efficient and effective use of storage areas • Maintain the equipment in a safe and efficient working order. Work closely with the Facilities Departments related to the repair of the Operations equipment to determine if repairs can be made internally or externally • Assist the Operations Manager in maintaining proper inventory of supplies and equipment by monitoring use. Store and issue supplies and maintain a clean, safe work environment. • Make recommendations to the Operations Manager regarding capital expenditures directly related to the Operations department budgets • Recommend the purchase of cleaning supplies and setup equipment following the established SCC guidelines to the Operations Manager • Attend pre- and post-conference meetings as directed to ensure communication between the client and the Operations department are clear and current • Work as needed to accomplish the department responsibilities, which may include working extended hours in a day, swing shift, weekends, holidays, and graveyard • Perform all duties in a professional productive manner, in adherence to the SCC service standards, to ensure the successful operation of the SCC • Comply with the Convention Center's missions and all standards, procedures and established programs and ensure compliance by department staff Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, upon occasion it may be higher due to noise from compactors, forklifts, and other machinery types of noise. Minimum Qualifications: • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college/technical school; or completion of standard training courses • Two (2) years’ experience in supervisory responsibilities for custodial and large room/event set-up and conversion operation • Valid CPR, First Aid and AED certification within 6 months of employment Preferred Qualifications: • Experience managing and working with represented employees • Familiarity with GBAC STAR Accreditation and other cleaning, disinfection, and disease prevention programs • Experience in administering facility event maintenance programs involving traditional convention meeting formats, specialty event formats, large public events, multiple and simultaneous events • Experience administering and monitoring front-line worker safety programs including hazardous communication and exposure control • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
