Audit Partner – Life Sciences Location: Boston, MA An independently owned public accounting and advisory firm with no private equity involvement—and no intention of pursuing it is seeking an Audit Partner to join and help grow its Life Sciences practice in Boston. The firm is committed to a long-term, people-first partnership model focused on audit quality, client relationships, and sustainable growth. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced assurance professional with deep expertise serving public and pre-IPO life sciences companies, strong SEC and PCAOB knowledge, and a passion for building long-term client relationships in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment. The Opportunity This role offers the chance to play a visible leadership role in a well-established national platform while helping expand the firm’s presence in the Boston life sciences market. The Audit Partner will serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, audit committees, and investors, while also contributing to practice growth and talent development. Key Responsibilities • Serve as Engagement Partner for audits of public, pre-IPO, and private life sciences companies (biotech, pharma, med-tech, diagnostics) • Lead audits in accordance with PCAOB standards, ensuring audit quality and regulatory compliance • Provide leadership on SEC reporting matters, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, S-1, and registration statements • Advise clients on IPO readiness, capital markets transactions, and audit committee communications • Oversee and advise on SOX 404(a) and 404(b) internal control engagements • Address and remediate PCAOB inspection findings • Consult on complex accounting matters, including: • ASC 606 (revenue recognition, collaboration and licensing agreements) • ASC 730 (R&D) • ASC 718 (stock-based compensation) • ASC 805 (business combinations) • ASC 820 (fair value) • ASC 740 (income taxes) • Collaborate closely with tax and advisory teams to deliver integrated client solutions • Drive business development, client expansion, and market visibility in the Boston life sciences ecosystem • Mentor and develop directors, senior managers, and emerging leaders Qualifications • CPA required • 15+ years of progressive public accounting experience, including partner-level or equivalent leadership • Significant experience leading SEC registrant audits and working directly with audit committees • Strong PCAOB inspection and quality control experience • Deep life sciences industry expertise (biotech, pharma, medical devices, CROs) • Demonstrated ability to develop and grow client relationships • Experience building and leading high-performing audit teams • Big 4 or large national firm background strongly preferred Why This Role • No private equity involvement—ever • Established national audit and advisory platform • Dedicated life sciences industry resources • Opportunity to build and expand the Boston practice • Highly collaborative, entrepreneurial culture • Long-term leadership and succession opportunity
