Hundreds of brokerages across the country use ScoutSpace to automate site selection reports, market surveys, tour books, and comp sets — saving hours of manual work and helping brokers win more deals. We’re a small, fast-moving team of engineers and product builders passionate about building software that automates the tedious parts of the CRE workflow. The Role We’re looking for an experienced Ruby on Rails Engineer to join our product team and help scale the backend systems that power ScoutSpace. You’ll work closely with our founder, engineers, and designers to ship features that directly impact how brokers experience our product. This is a hands-on role with high autonomy and a lot of room to shape technical direction. What You’ll Do • Design, build, and maintain core Rails applications and APIs that support property data ingestion, AI automation, and client-facing deliverables • Work across the stack — primarily in Rails, with supporting technologies like Sidekiq, PostGIS, Active Storage, and AWS (S3, Lambda, Textract) • Optimize queries and background jobs to handle large-scale property data efficiently • Collaborate with frontend engineers working in Stimulus, and Vite Ruby • Build integrations with third-party APIs (Google Maps, OpenAI, ESRI, etc.) • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code using RSpec and modern Rails best practices • Contribute to architectural decisions as we evolve our platform from a monolith to a service-oriented architecture • Participate in product discussions — helping translate broker needs into elegant engineering solutions You’ll Thrive Here If You • Love building things end-to-end and taking ownership of projects • Are pragmatic and can balance ideal engineering with business priorities • Enjoy solving data-heavy or API-driven challenges • Like working closely with a small, fast-moving team where your impact is immediately visible Requirements • 3+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails in production environments • Strong knowledge of ActiveRecord, PostgreSQL, and Redis/Sidekiq • Comfortable with background processing, APIs, and Active Storage • Experience with at least one frontend framework (Vue, React, or Stimulus) • Familiarity with AWS (S3, Lambda, Textract) or similar cloud infrastructure • Strong communication skills and self-starter mentality Nice to Have • Experience in commercial real estate tech or data-heavy SaaS platforms • Background in geospatial data, mapping (PostGIS, Google Maps, ESRI), or AI integrations Why ScoutSpace • Work on a product that’s redefining how brokers operate across the U.S. • Join a small, mission-driven team where your code directly impacts customers • Competitive compensation and early-stage equity opportunities • Modern tech stack, remote-first flexibility, and a bias toward shipping
