Job Summary Reporting to our [Senior Executive], the Director of Category Management will lead our procurement team and oversee all aspects of sourcing, purchasing, supply, and inventory management. This leader is responsible for developing strategic procurement strategies, conducting multi-year sourcing cycles, and managing supplier relationships while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities ● Team Leadership: Lead and manage a centralized procurement team (including a Purchasing Manager, Category Manager, and Buyers) located across our [Multiple Locations]. ● Strategy Development: Implement procurement strategies that support short-term and long-term company objectives. ● Strategic Sourcing: Execute sourcing across direct and indirect categories, managing spend baselines and conducting market research. ● RFIs & RFPs: Develop and manage bidding processes leveraging e-sourcing technology. ● Data Analysis: Analyze large datasets of supplier bids and run award scenario analyses based on Total Cost of Ownership. ● Supplier Management: Oversee supplier contracts, qualifications, and transitions to transactional Procure-to-Pay systems. ● Continuous Improvement: Ensure value improvement through Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs). ● Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align with sales, marketing, finance, and operations to coordinate procurement activities. ● Reporting: Present metrics regarding spend analysis, savings, supplier performance, and inventory turnover. Required Skills & Qualifications ● Experience: Minimum of 10 years in procurement and supply chain management, preferably in industrial wholesale distribution or construction. ● Education: Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, engineering, or a related field. ● Technical Knowledge: Deep knowledge of MEP contracting sourcing categories (Piping, PVF, HVAC, Electrical) and relevant commodity markets (copper, cast iron, etc.). ● Strategy: Proven track record of executing multi-year procurement strategies and achieving tangible cost savings. ● Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership abilities with a willingness to "get hands dirty" when needed. ● Systems: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel) and typical ERP/Procure-to-Pay modules. ● Preferred Extras: Consulting experience, knowledge of advanced analytics, and certifications such as PMP, CPSM, or MCIPS are considered a plus.
