Business Development Manager – Industrial/MRO Sales (Portland, OR) We’re seeking a results-driven Business Development Manager to grow our industrial/MRO customer base in the Portland area and beyond. This role focuses on winning new accounts, building long-term relationships, and delivering cost-saving, efficiency-boosting solutions for manufacturers, fabricators, and industrial operations. Key Responsibilities • Develop and execute a territory growth plan targeting new industrial/MRO accounts • Prospect through networking, referrals, cold outreach, and CRM activity (Proton.ai) • Assess customer needs to identify pain points and improvement opportunities • Present technical solutions—especially in metalworking and cutting tools—that drive measurable value • Grow sales volume and improve gross margins through strategic selling • Build repeat business and strengthen customer loyalty through consistent follow-up • Document sales activities and strategies in CRM • Partner with service and operations teams to ensure exceptional customer experiences • Attend training, vendor events, and industry meetings to maintain expertise Qualifications • 3–5 years B2B sales experience, with a proven track record in territory growth and customer retention • Industrial tool, metalworking, or MRO experience preferred • Strong relationship-building and consultative selling skills • Ability to sell value over price and deliver measurable ROI to customers • Excellent communication, organization, and planning skills • Proficient in CRM tools, MS Office, and mobile technology • Mechanical/technical aptitude a plus • Willingness to travel locally with occasional out-of-state trips • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record • High school diploma or equivalent This is a great opportunity for a motivated sales professional who thrives in a consultative, solutions-based environment and enjoys building long-term partnerships in the industrial sector.
