Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a confidential search for a Nonprofit Accountant & Payroll Administrator for a mission-driven nonprofit organization. This is a 100% onsite, contract-to-hire opportunity supporting a values-centered organization during a critical accounting and payroll transition. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Nonprofit Accountant & Payroll Administrator plays a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, compliance, and operational continuity within a nonprofit organization. This position oversees day-to-day accounting, fund management, and full-cycle payroll while partnering closely with leadership during a period of transition. The ideal candidate brings nonprofit fund accounting expertise, strong payroll proficiency, and a collaborative, service-oriented approach. PERKS: Hourly compensation of $41.83–$45.67 per hour , commensurate with experience Contract-to-hire opportunity with strong potential for long-term placement Client-provided equipment and a stable, full-time onsite schedule Comprehensive benefits upon conversion, including health coverage, retirement plan, paid time off, sick leave, and holidays Inclusive, mission-driven work environment grounded in integrity, stewardship, and community service RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain accurate financial records including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and cash management Prepare financial statements, budget-to-actual reports, and support month-end, quarter-end, and annual close processes Manage full-cycle payroll and timekeeping using Paychex systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance Record and reconcile contributions, pledges, and restricted funds in accordance with donor and fund requirements Support audits, financial reviews, and documentation while ensuring compliance with nonprofit standards and regulations Provide clear financial reporting and partner collaboratively with leadership, staff, and internal stakeholders QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated experience in nonprofit fund accounting, including donor-restricted funds Hands-on experience managing full-cycle payroll and payroll compliance Strong working knowledge of accrual-based accounting and financial reporting High level of discretion, integrity, and attention to detail Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: This is a contract-to-hire role offering $41.83–$45.67 per hour .
