Overview: Schneider Optical Machines (Frisco, TX) is looking for an Automation and Controls Engineer. As such, you will support the design, build, testing, installation, startup of capital projects. The ideal candidate will have managed project integration of logistics automation equipment such as storage and retrieval systems, order picking systems, high-speed sorting systems, order fulfillment machinery, intelligent conveyor or routing systems or other machines with similar complexity. Qualifications: • Engineering Degree (BS or MS) in Engineering, Computer Science or other closely related field from an accredited institution or highly relevant experience • 5+ Years Automation and Controls experience • 5+ years of hands-on experience troubleshooting manufacturing controls systems. • Expert knowledge of PLC logic and controls and working knowledge of HMI’s • Experience with complex integrated systems • Experience with VFD’s, encoders, network/Ethernet controls, as well as electrical, electronic and mechanical systems • Strong problem solving skills • Experience with Beckhoff TwinCat3 is a definite PLUS Primary Responsibilities and Skills: Duties include but are not limited to the following: • Good understanding of motor controls circuits • In-depth understanding of Ethernet/IP communication protocol • Hands-on experience calibrating/setting up industrial instrumentation, flowmeters, level sensors and others • Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office • Must be a self-starter with a high-level integrity and honesty • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures & electrical diagrams • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions • Ability to work with a sense of urgency to resolve issues and to meet deadlines • Ability to work in a team environment • Ability to multi-task with accuracy • Provide engineering support and technical guidance to end users and plant personnel for existing control systems and HMIs • Troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex tests on control systems • Maintain and further develop interface between field automation and SCADA systems • Must comfortably navigate PLC logic and database structures for purposes of identifying • Participate in implementation phase and postproduction development of projects, including PLC/HMI program modifications • Provide checkout and start-up support for new facilities and equipment • Travel Required of 40-60% (potentially some internationally) • Manage and monitor System Integration Engineering projects relating to scope, schedule, and budget • Collaborate with Sales, Solution Design, and Project Management teams providing feasibility, design feedback, customer requirements, and implementation to align system requirements and provide the best results for all stakeholders • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and collaborate with engineering leadership (Mechanical, Electrical/Controls, Software) • Develop and manage project deliverable quality control practices and processes • Provide system installation support and on-site start-up and debugging for both hardware and software • Create developed concept level drawings suitable for customer presentation • Provide assistance and training to customers and colleagues • Perform related tasks on special projects as directed Compensation and Benefits: · Competitive compensation · Vacation and Holiday pay · 401K with company match · Medical and Dental insurance · STD/LTD insurance For more information on Schneider Optical Mac
