As the Director of Transportation, you will: • Provide executive leadership and overall management of the District's transportation services and operations. • Develop and implement transportation policies, procedures, and long-range service plans. • Oversee routing, scheduling, vendor performance, safety monitoring, and service delivery. • Supervise professional, technical, and administrative transportation staff. • Manage transportation vendor contracts and service agreements. • Oversee preparation and management of the Transportation Department budget. • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation and safety laws. • Serve as the primary liaison with city, county, and state agencies. • Prepare Board of Education reports and agenda items. • Lead emergency response and continuity planning for transportation services. • Perform other related duties as assigned. The strongest candidates will have: • Knowledge of public-sector or school district transportation operations • Strong systems-thinking and data analysis skills • Ability to manage large vendor contracts and service programs • Demonstrated budget and fiscal management skills • Exceptional organizational and leadership ability • Strong problem-solving and crisis management experience • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Demonstrated commitment to equity and student-centered service • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor's degree (B.A. / B.S) from an accredited college or university; advanced degree preferred • Five (5) years of full-time verifiable professional experience in a related field • Strategic leadership and management experience; in a K-12 public educational setting preferred Substitution: Education requirement may be substituted for additional professional-level experience on a year-for-year basis.
