Role and Responsibilities The Senior Manager of Federal Government Relations would be primarily responsible for strengthening and building relationships with Democratic Members of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The candidate would sense opportunities and risk and identify key legislative opportunities to drive Samsung’s strategy and engagement at the highest levels in the U.S. government. Duties of the job include: Reporting directly to the Vice President of Government Relations and developing relationship-building activities and opportunities, including site visits, PAC fundraisers, events and advocacy campaigns. Coordinating new programming for events and activities in the company’s DC office, including meet and greets with new Members of Congress, hosting events with congressional coalitions, caucuses or industry partners, and receptions for congressional staff and Members. Political outreach by attending fundraisers for federal candidates funded through the company’s PAC. This includes planning and executing a distribution campaign for key federal candidates in collaboration with the Vice President of Government Relations and the broader team. Engagement with Democratic members and leaders of the House and Senate. Other duties include: Collaborating with the Vice President of Government Relations to help execute the team’s legislative agenda. Managing day-to-day external stakeholder relationships and coordination with Samsung’s Public Policy team on priorities. Identification and reporting on significant legislation or regulations to senior management, public policy, strategic communications, and business channel staff to assess potential impact on Samsung. Providing support for the business teams at the federal, state and local political levels and with Administration relationships and identifying business opportunities. Political engagement with Governors in relevant states. Supporting and helping drive participation in Samsung’s PAC. Representation of Samsung at trade association, government, coalition and other industry stakeholder meetings. Coordination with internal teams to improve the legislative environment and enhance Samsung’s reputation in Washington. We are looking for: Minimum of 6+ years in an advocacy role, preferably in the tech and/or manufacturing industry with an emphasis on Democratic relationships in the House and Senate. Congressional, Administration or other U.S. government experience preferred. Solid familiarity with Samsung products, services, solutions, businesses and strategies. Strong command of policy and legislative issues core to Samsung’s business, including technology, trade, energy, tax, national security, and appropriations. Demonstrated ability to establish solid working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work in a team environment and partner with other cross-functional staff. Excellent leadership and communications skills Education: Bachelor’s degree required; juris doctor or graduate degree preferred. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
