Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President, Oncology Support Services the RN Program Coordinator will work with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure smooth planning and execution of the Incidental Finding Program The RN Program Coordinator will manage the workflow of patients in the Program from radiological incidental findings through care coordination The RN Program Coordinator serves as a patient advocate to ensure appropriate timeliness and access to care The RN Program Coordinator will work with medical staff, participate in institutional activities, and attend community events The RN Program Coordinature will ensure that Cancer Centers are in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations, Coordination will be shared with Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Trinitas, and Rahway Medical Center with possibility of expansion to other facilities within the RWJ Barnabas Health System At Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, we are committed to quality and excellence in patient care. Qualifications: Required: • Graduate from an NLN Accredited School of Nursing • Oncology experience required • BSN/BA/BS Degree • Successful completion of all orientation programs • Ability to navigate complex emotional and ethical situations with empathy and professionalism Preferred: • ONS/OCN Certification Certifications and Licenses Required: • Active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement • BLS from the American Heart Association • ACLS from the American Heart Association Scheduling Requirements: • Day Shift • Hybrid work schedule • Full-Time, 37.5 hours • Monday – Friday, position no weekends and no major holidays Essential Functions: • Answer calls independently for select issues related to new patient consults and follow up visits • Assist in the referral of the patient to the appropriate physician or specialist for diagnosis and treatment • Collaborates closely with physicians and members of the healthcare team to coordinate care of the patient • Collaborates with community outreach department to educate referring physicians and facilities on available services • Communicates patient needs to appropriate healthcare team members and departments • Communicates with referring physician s offices as appropriate to meet patient and physician needs • Develops and enhances processes to improve the clinical experience for patients • Streamlines patient access to care, enhances quality care, and increases patient and provider satisfaction • Develops educational programs, materials, documentation tools and informational seminars for patients and physicians • Educates and supports patients and their families • Eliminates barriers to timely diagnosis and treatment • Serves as a resource to the individual patient and referring physician throughout treatment • Streamlines patient access to care, enhances quality care, and increases patient and provider satisfaction • Works in the community setting to promote education, prevention and early detection of cancer within outreach programs and physician practices • Updates and maintains statistics on new patient volume and referral patterns • Maintain accurate documentation and participate in quality improvement initiatives Benefits and Perks: At RWJBarnabas Health, our employees are at the heart of everything we do.
