Job Title: Pharmacy Technician Certified Location: RWJUH Somerset Department Name: Pharmacy Req #: 0000217028 Status: Hourly Shift: Day Pay Range: $24.26 - $30.32 per hour Pay Transparency: The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Job Overview: RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified part-time Pharmacy Technician in Somerville, NJ. The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in all aspects of pharmacy practice and performs any duties required to provide and ensure good patient care and safety as requested. Qualifications: Required: • ​​​​​Must be a high school graduate or GED equivalent. Preferred: Prior experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred Certifications and Licenses Required: • Must be PTCB certified or receive certification within 6 months of hire. • You are required maintain PTCB certification. • Must be registered with the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacy Technician. Scheduling Requirements • Day Shift, 16 hours • Part Time Schedule (Monday, Friday ; every other weekend, rotating evening shifts as needed; rotating Holidays up to 1 summer and 1 winter holiday) Essential Functions: Drug Distribution • Refills unit-dose medication bins and delivers contents to nursing units. • Collects and processes medication orders prior to distribution. Delivers prepared medication to nursing units, as assigned. • Performs necessary tasks related to patient transfer and discharge; record-keeping and transfer of medications. • Delivery of controlled substances to all hospital areas. • Maintenance of all automatic dispensing machines (ADMs). • Checks for and removes expired medications from stock. • Restocks code carts. • Prepares and labels outpatient prescriptions. • Prepares and labels extemporaneously compounded non-sterile pharmaceuticals. Sterile IV Admixture Service • Sterile/non-sterile product preparation. • Performs required calculations for all aspects of medication dispensing and compounding. • Using aseptic technique, prepares and labels all sterile products. • Maintains the integrity of laminar air flow hoods by cleaning and following proper procedures. • Delivers intravenous solutions to nursing units. • Monitors IV schedules and unused IV solutions on select nursing units to increase efficiency and avoid waste.
