Job Title: Echocardiograph Tech Cert Location: Main Hospital - New Brunswick Department Name: Echo / Vascular Lab Req #: 0000218251 Status: Hourly Shift: Day Pay Range: $49.43 - $61.04 per hour Pay Transparency: The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Job Overview: The Certified Echocardiography Technician (Cardiac Sonographer) performs diagnostic studies according to protocol which facilitate the diagnosis of the case by the Cardiologist, recording on film and by digital acquisition, thus creating a permanent record of the data obtained. Qualifications: Required: Graduate from an accredited school of cardiovascular technology required. Fully trained echocardiography technologist with minimum of one (1) year of formal training preferred. One of the following: RCS=REGISTERED CARDIAC SONOGRAPHER (echo) RDCS=REGISTERED DIAGNOSTIC CARDIAC SONOGRAPHER (echo) RDMS=REGISTERED DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL SONOGRAPHER (general ultrasound mainly) Preferred: • One (1) year of hospital experience preferred. Essential Functions: • Perform diagnostic studies according to protocol which facilitate the diagnosis of the case by the Cardiologist, recording on film and by digital acquisition, thus creating a permanent record of the data obtained. Technician Inform the Cardiologist immediately of any emergent findings, including the recording and reporting of Critical Values. • Select and prepare appropriate ultrasound equipment necessary to perform the exam (i.e. Echo, Treadmill, Bike, Stress, Contrast, TEE). This includes recording material, monitoring equipment (i.e. heart monitor, blood pressure monitor, O2 saturation monitor, EKG) IV sets, pumps, O2 suction, contrast media, medications and all forms required for each type of study. Prepare patient for the exam, including introduction, explanation and education of procedure to be performed and proper positioning for exam. When required for a specific examination, prepare and insert intravenous line if IV certified or notify appropriate personnel to place line. Obtain pertinent clinical data prior to the procedure, including any previous studies and medical history (i.e. history of valve replacement, open heart surgery, heart transplant, stent or pacemaker placements • Under direct supervision of the physician, assist in the performance of other cardiac diagnostic procedures as required (i.e. pericardial tap, AV optimization). Perform related duties as directed or required. • Maintain all echocardiography equipment and testing area, including Code Cart. Ensure that the Echocardiography exam rooms have adequate supplies needed daily to perform studies. Ensure that the guidelines of appropriate standards of practice are followed, including awareness of patient safety and initiatives at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Maintain competence and credentials through continuing education. • Act as preceptors in training students and Fellows in Echocardiography. • Apply the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in the department. Confirm that studies performed have successfully been networked to Intellispace Cardiovascular workstation and EPIC for system-wide physician access and retrieval. Maintain all appropriate records of procedures performed. Properly enter all charges and documents into the hospital computer system.
